any advice for ending the "ba ba"
My daughter is 17 months old. She nursed for around 14 months. Then she latched on to her bottle. She will take sippy cups sometimes but really wants her bottle when she goes to sleep or when she wakes up. My main questions are when should I stop the bottle? and any suggestions on how to?
Thanks

It seems that your daughter is using the bottle for comfort. When this happens it's hard to take away. My daughter never liked the bottle but she did like the binky. What I did was took her to the store and showed her different toys and blankets and stuffed animals to see if she really liked any of them. She fell in love with a special Dora doll that you program to say there name. I let her take it around the store why we did are shopping. Right before we left I took it from her and told her that we had to put it back. She was upset and i told her that it was a big girl toy and when she gave up her baby binky then she could have it. I gave the toy to my husband and he pretended to take it back but what he did was buy it then put it in the car. When we got home she was still upset about it.
That night I gave her this colorful bag and told her that if she put her binkies in there that in the morning when she woke up there would be the Dora in there. For two nights she didn't do it but on the third night after we went to the store again and she got to play with the toy again she put all her binkies. She had more then we realized. And that morning she woke up and found her Dora. She still sometimes asked about her binkies and I told her that they went to babies that didn't have any. This really worked for us. I tried just taking them away from her and we spent three night without any sleep because she cried the whole time.

About your question when you should stop the bottle? Most doctors say to never give a child a bottle after 1 year. I think it has something to do with teeth. I know that it's not good to use a bottle to fall asleep because they leave some of the milk or whatever they are drink in there mouth and this can cause tooth decay and problems with there gums.
I have also heard that if you only put water in the bottles and juice and milk in the sippy cups then she will give it up on her own. If not atlest you won't have to worry about tooth decay.

I hope this is helpful.
