Hi, I  just wanted to introduce myself.  I live in Nederland - I am a lucky and blessed mother of a 2-yr old soon to be 3-yr old - we  were trying for our second child just recently when we suffered a set back - I had two ultrasounds which confirmed the absence of a heartbeat when I was almost 12 weeks, and a delayed fetal developement of -3-4 weeks. It was apparent from the physician's diagnosis that the pregancy had failed to to progress, and they recommended a D&C, I went ahead with the procedure and I am still grieving. I am planning to try again in 3 months unless I get devastating news at my follow-up appointment on 9-10-09.  I am scared and constantly re-evaluating my reasons for wanting a second child. I do not want my son to be an only child, and I had my first child at 38 and it was a breeze no complications. I am constantly wondering am I being selfish to consider having one so old ??? That is part of my motivation for having a second one so my son will not be alone if my husband and I do leave earlier than most parents - It is probably a silly phobic but that is me - I always want to do the right thing - I am looking for a sign from God before I plunge into the next pregnancy!

Well, I guess your situation could have changed by now...I hope for the good!  And, no, I do not think you are selfish.  Wanting to be a mother is NOT a selfish act.  And, my mom had her 3rd, my little brother, at 40 and all was perfect!  Its God's plan...not ours!  If you'd like to chat please feel free to email me!

Hi - thank you for your reply - no I have not gotten pregnant yet - we had a lot of other issues coming up and we are still on the fence about whether or not to try so we will see.  I saw another post from you that you are moving to Beaumont - I live in Nederland even though we are only about 15-20 minutes away I am not sure of all of the Daycares in Beaumont, but Cathedral in the Pines is a good one and I have a friend who takes her kids to a Mother's Day Out at one of the Methodist Churches that she loves.  Also I was going to suggest you visit www.beaumontbuzz.com It is a cool website I just found myself - they have a section called the Wall of Recommendation or something like that - but they have a list of all of the best hairdressers, doctors, etc.  It is really pretty neat for someone just moving to the area.  My vote for best pediatrician is Dr. Luis Taylor - he is in Beaumont and he is great!! Welcome to the area - I hope you and your family like it here :)
