I'm not sure if it's normal or not, but I lost a whole lot of hair after I had my son.  It was terrible, but thankfully I had some to spare!  He's 15 months old now, but it's been better for months now.  I think it finally got better after I stopped nursing, but I wasn't paying much attention to it by then.  But I do remember freaking out at first and being SO frustrated.  Hope it gets better for you!

I glad that I am not the only one that was losing hair.  It really freaked me out there for awhile.  Mine is slowly getting thicker again.

OMG I thought I was alone. I have a lot of hair but lately my hair has been falling out in big hair balls. you can make a wig out of all the hair I'm losing on a daily basis. Its making me worry about my health. when ever I run a brush thru my hair its a big amount that comes out I do have hair to spare but I am still very worried about it.

I have always lost hair like crazy, about a handful each time I take a shower.  I have very think hair though, so it has never bothered me.  When I was preggo, I would only loose a couple strands a day which was a big change.  Once I had my son, it went back to normal.  I have read and heard that it is completely normal to lose hair after giving birth.  The vitamins we take in addition to the hormones during pregnancy cause us to stop losing so much hair, but then the additional hormones we have that come after giving birth as well as losing all the other hormones can cause our hair to fall out faster than even before we got pregnant.  Apparently our bodies are making up be losing a lot of it afterwards.  Anyway though, don't worry, it's normal.  We have plenty to worry about, losing hair definitly needs to be way down on the list.

It's normal after pregnancy because your hair always goes through a growth and shed cycle. Basically while you are pregnant, your hair stays in a growth cycle. You might notice your hair grows faster or you have thicker hair during pregnancy. After you have your baby, your hair goes back to the normal cycling of shed and growth and you'll experience hair loss. It might seem like a lot because it is catching up to get back to "normal" cycling.
