Any Older Mothers Out There

I am expecting my second child in March - I am 40 - I am happy - I had my first child at 38. Probably depending where you are from and your back ground, but in my - area most people my age have kids that are in high school. I don't feel 40 but I defintely am :)

Hi,

I am resending this, I think there was a problem.  I'm 40 and I just had my 1st.  I defiintely don't feel old, and sometimes I feel too young to handle all this responsibility.  I am meeting many older moms now but many are staying home or working part time, I can't do that.  Do you work?  I don't know if I would want to stay home, maternity leave made me bananas..I'm not sure if I"m cut out for it.  Of course, I feel guilty too.

where are you from, I'm from the Boston MA area.

I know 40 is not too old - but sometimes people's reactions make me feel a little self- conscious, but I have been blessed with easier pregnancies ( so far) than my younger friends. I work full-time, but I have a flexible schedule where I am able to work from home part of the time.  I like that because I don't like having to leave my son all day.  I have had a hard time with child care so it has helped that I do not have to be gone for more than 5 hours at a time.  I am also working an at-home business as well.  My goal is to eventually work the at-home-business only so I can be home all of the time ( I would still be out for appointments, etc but most of the time I would work from home.  I am not someone who could just stay home not do anything else ( not that being a stay at home mom isn't a full-time job - after all we pay other people to take care of our kids).  I just hate to HAVE to leave my child for work ( I would still take him to Mothers Day Out a couple times a week, but it would be nice to not have to send him anywhere if I didn't feel like it or if he doesn't feel too well.) I am Southeast Texas - it is really hot here :)
