My daughter is 7 1/2 months old and hasn't began to come close to crawling yet. She rolls over and HATES tummy time. She pushes up on her arms but doesn't really get up on her knees, sometimes she'll get up on her toes. She hasn't really shown much interest or just hasn't been able to figure it out. She likes to pull herself up on me and furniture, with assistance, but just not much interest in crawling. I was just wondering how I could teach or encourage her more how to crawl. When did everyone else babies start to crawl? |

My son is also 7 1/2 months, and he also didn't start crawling until now, he too started out as if he was going to walk first!.. Lol, if she is pulling up and pushing up she will soon crawl, try putting down her favorite toy like 1 foot away from her, and cheer her own, put her on her hands and knees, maybe that will work for her, but there is nothing wrong, its just that some babies are faster, some are slower, he doesn't even have any teeth yet, and he's almost 8months..lol, boy I can't wait! Lol! Good luck I hope I was able to help you!!! :) |

My son didn't start crawling til he was 9 months old and started walking just after his first birthday. Some babies go straight to walking and never crawl, so don't worry, your baby just isn't ready yet :-) |

I think most babies hate tummy time. My daughter started crawling I think a day before she turned 8 months. I too thought she was going to skip crawling since she seemed more interested in standing (started walking at 11 months). The thing that seemed to work for us is when she was on her belly I wouild lift her stomach up off the ground so she would be on her hands and knees (she wouldn't get on her knees either) and this seemed to show her how. Also, there are different "styles" of crawling. My mom use to call me sweat pea (from Popeye) because I use to drag my body around with my elbows. I wouldn't worry about. My daughter never flipped over on to her stomach and she was a bit of an early walker. Things don't always go in the order that's "expected". By-the-way she didn't get her first tooth until almost a year and it was her top right tooth, just goes to show ya... |

My daughter didn't start to crawl until just before her first birthday. She just started to pull up about a month ago and is now cruising furniture and she is 15 months old. It's very true...some babies start late. She only has 4 teeth and it seems like she has been teething for 10 months now. Also, she hasn't even said a first word yet. That does have me a bit worried. She had her 15 month well visit today and Dr says if by 18 months no words, then we need to look at alternatives. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just keep an eye and if you get overly concerned I would just contact her pediatrician. Good luck and just enjoy this time now. Once they start getting around you will constantly be chasing and worrying they are into things they shouldn't be into, LOL...not to mention lots of bumps and bruises, LOL. |

My daughter started crawling at 9 months. She tto did not like to be on her stomache. At Christmas we put her on the floor and she crawled straight for the presents! I guess it just took a little motivation. Babies do things in their own time. The same thing happened with walking. She would stand some if we stood her up, but she was not pulling herself up. At Easter we put her on the floor to crawl, but she found it too hard to do in her long dress so she stood up and took her first steps and hasn't stopped since! |

My son is now 4 1/2, but he did not crawl until he was 13mo. old and did not walk until 17 months! I was a basket case with worry all of the time! Everyone kept saying don't worry, they are all different, but when it is your child, of course you worry! He hated tummy time too and showed no interest in cruising much at all. I guess my advice is to just hang in there and stay on top of her doctor visits. Go to a different doc. for a 2nd opinion if it worried you a lot. That is what I did for several different problems along the way and even now. Don't give up till you find the right one! Good luck to you! |

my son is 19months and started crawling just after he turned 8months, before then he would be sitting up and just lean forward and then fall on his face...he didn't really try much before he did tho, maybe for a week or so he got on his knees and then fell flat on his face. He too HATED tummy time, he cried pretty much anytime he was on his tummy but didn't mind being on his back, even tho he would roll himself over to his tummy he still hated it...it was a blessing when he figured out how to roll back onto his back. But just like he was born he has never really practiced anything before he just does it....except the whole talking thing, can't get him to say his 'B's(he calls a ball 'doll' and it drives my brother crazy he's always telling me "you have got to tell him he does NOT play with 'dolls' he plays with 'balls'!" |
