Lonely?

My son was born 7 months ago and I have been a SAHM. I absolutely love being with him 24-7, but the lack of personal contact has been getting to me recently. I moved to a new town a few months back and have yet to meet anyone my age with kids. I have checked around and there doesn't seem to be any mommy groups in my area. It's summer in the desert and going outside is not an option. I have been to the local Wal-Mart so many times I'm running out of useless stuff to buy. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can overcome this feeling of loneliness? Thanks other mommies!

See if there is a local chapter of http://www.momsclub.org/welcome.html. If there isn't check out starting one.

Best of luck to you,

Helene

You could check out meetup.com for a local mom's group near you. Maybe try story time at the library or barnes and noble. Your ped might know of some groups. Maybe check out a mommy and me class? Like gymboree, swim, music or maybe even a yoga class? Good Luck I hope you find something. Hang in there I know how isolating it can be.

Hi Katie,

I also recommend checking out www.meetup.com for a playgroup or Mom'sgroup near you :)

Most libraries also have storytime & malls tend to have a play area too

Good luck!  :)

Yet another great site :>)  www.mops.org    Look for the nearest chapter using you zip.

Childcare is provided, so you get to talk without little people interruptions!!!!

I'll put it out there - there's only so much you can communicate right now since your baby is still young.  You need stimulation (can not tell you how much time I spent in Target) and additional support as a SAHM. As you evolve, so will your circle.  Best wishes in making some connections!

You should also see if there is a Stroller Strides group in your town. It was how I met moms when I first had my son and it really helped me stay in shape too. Good luck!
