EDH Mama

Hello fellow stay at home moms!  I was interested in finding out how you reach out to other moms who work in the home as a full time wife and mother.  It's a huge job!  I have a 22 month old boy and one due in December.  I've joined a mommy group but it's a little "exclusive" at times.  I've also tried going to the parks and library as well as enroll my son in Music Together classes and swim lessons.  I'm new to El Dorado Hills, Ca and I'm looking to meet other moms for playdates.  It's been more challenging than I thought.  Sometimes it feels as though people are already set in their "groups" of mommy friends.  I will continue to try and reach out, and I wanted to know how other stay at home moms reach out for support and friendship.

Hi Jennell,

I totally understand how you feel.  It is very hard and sometimes intimidating when joining a Mommy's group.  Don't get discouraged.  You might have to go through several groups until you find the right group and people you can connect with.

Try www.meetup.com like Sandi suggested.  Hopefully it will give you a variety of groups you can choose from.

It's really hard to connect with people when they have already formed there clicks.  You just have to put yourself out there, but don't try so hard to fit in.  It's natural if you can't click with everyone.  People have different personalities and you just need to find people that you can relate to.

Hope that helps.  Good luck in your search in finding a Great Mommy's group that suits you.

Also, you only get what you put out there.  So put the effort in attending the meetups if you are wanting long lasting friendships.

Hi Jennell,

I know exactly how you feel. We moved last november and I have had the same problem. I have a 27 month old little girl and I am due in 6 1/2 weeks with our second baby (dont know what it is).

I go to the library every wk for story time and I have tried to reach out at church but haven't had much luck there either. I have found a couple of people at the library and I am going to try and have them over for a play date after the 4th.

I have tried meetup.com and this one but neither have groups in this small town and its to far to drive to the closest one for just a couple of hrs (120 miles).

I hope you find something soon.

I joined a meetup.com group as well as a Momsclub group & was not happy with what I found... So, I started a group of my own (on meetup.com) hoping for 14 moms - @ $5- a yr it paid for the site.  If I got 28 we were covered for the year...  & if you change your mind after 30 days at meetup you get a full refund.  MOST IMPORTANTLY-I started it 7 months ago & we have 165 members!  TRY it!  I have made some awesome friends :)
