Freezing Breast milk
I have frozen breast milk and on our way to visit family it defrosted a little bit before getting it to a freezer again. Is is safe to put it back in the freezer and refreeze it if it hasn't even been opened yet?

I think its 6 months freeze, 6 days in the fridge 6 hours out. You can defrosted for 24 hours in the fridge and use it and dont freeze it again if you do not use it. If was a frozen milk and was out less then 6 hours you cant either put it back to fridge. Hope you get it! it is kind of hard to explain for me. .)

No, everything I have ever read and heard says it is not safe to refreeze once it has started to thaw, but you can still use it within 24 hours.

No you can put in the fridge to defrosted and use it in the 24 hours, but cant freeze or put back to fridge after the time.

You could check out the la leche (sp?) league, it has all the details to breast milk storage.

my lactation consultant said that once it is defrosted it is not good to refreeze because it deminishes nutrient levels. I think it only goes bad or is unsafe if it sits out at room tempurature for too long.
