Hi Beth. Welcome to the group! My 4 year old also has apraxia. I know we've been going to therapy for the last 1 1/2 years and it gets to be a bit much. You must be constantly be at speech with two boys going. Are you seeing quite a bit of progress, or is it fairly slow going? Are the boys in preschool or daycare? If so, how is that going for them? Hopefully you can find somethings of interest under our list/resources section. Please feel free to add anything you feel may be helpful as well. Again, welcome to the group and make yourself at home!Laughing

Hi Beth! Welcome!

My son is a late talker.  We have been on a challenging path to getting him to talk and are succeeding!  The resources list is a great one, check it out.

I hope you are able to find some answers to your questions here.  Best of luck on your journey!

Jake only had 6 mos of speech therapy from June to December last year.  Our insurance quit paying.  They weren't doing that great anyway because he wasn't cooperating and they were doing mostly drills and what's this, what's that kind of stuff.

I used the Teach Me To Talk DVDs and the Teach Me to Listen and Obey DVD vol 2 (in the resource list) for therapy ideas, plus a lot of modeling and recasting.  He had a major burst in language right around his 3rd birthday.  He is talking in almost complete sentences now with a bit of articulation errors. (he replaces some consonants with the H sound). He will be 3 1/2 on the 15th.

He just had his tonsils/adenoids removed and had tubes put in and his tongue clipped.  We just recently discovered the fluid in the ear problem and a mid-line tongue tie (not all the way to the tip). We discovered he can't lift his tongue far.  I am already hearing clearer words and more complete sentences after his surgery. If his improvement isn't major in articulation since the procedures, I have a tentative evaluation with the school board set for July.  I am hoping we won't need it.

Oh yea, and I have been using DHA /Fish Oil for a year now.  He has made remarkable improvement with that!  Look at the Nordic Naturals link I have posted in the resources.

Hope all is well with you!
Annette
