19 month old won't nap

Help please!!!

My 19 month old son has been refusing to nap more and more over the past 2-3 months.  Per Dr. Marc Weisbluth, whom I feel mixed about, we are putting him to bed earlier (he sleeps typically from 7-5) so he can catch up on sleep for 4-5 days (today will be day 3) and he says then they will stop refusing naps because they'll be less overtired.  He's napping even less today! 15 min and now he's screaming in bed but I know he's exhausted.  Has this happened to anyone??

We do all the sleep rituals etc, nothing has changed, no family trauma, none of that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated or even hearing from anyone who can related.

Thanks,

Devorah

My son just recently turned two and he has been taking pretty good naps up until now (sometimes as long as 2 hours). All of a sudden though, he started refusing to take naps. He would never scream but he does talk to himself a lot. I pushed his naptime forward an hour, thinking that that would help him get even more tired prior to the nap. That worked for about 2 weeks. Now we are back to square one. I have been putting him to bed around 7:00, which is definitely necessary when he hasn't taken a significant nap all day. I think some kids start cutting out their naps around this age. I do believe in quiet time though. When your little one is normally ready for a nap but refuses one, try doing something quiet like reading books, coloring, or putting puzzles together. GOOD LUCK!!
