Maryanne, Have you considered talking to a neurologist about your hands going numb? When I worked as a waitress, I damaged a nerve in my upper arm carrying a tray, and my whole arm went numb and I couldn't lift it, feel it, anything. I had to be seen by a neurologist. As for the other things, I'm not sure what they could be. |

The numbness in your hands sounds like carpal tunnel. I had it during pregnancy and still get a little once in a while. It is from pressure on the nerves in your wrist when your body retains extra water. I used a wrist brace at night because that is when it was the worst for me. Bending your wrist back slightly and flexing your fingers can help. |

All of these symptoms I had during and after pregnancy, mine went away about 6 months...I found that when I started to lose the extra weight the numbness (hands & legs) went away, the exercising was key, the urinating is so lame...try kiegel exercises they help. The sweating is hormonal, my whole temperature changed, I see it getting closer to pre-pregnancy now (my daughter is 9 months) What we moms have to go through! |

MaryAnne, I had all issues except the eye floaters. They do go away over time. 6 mo or so. Then my hair started falling out. Also hormonal I've learned. The leaking issue did go away and I did do kegals to help.
Good luck. The joys of motherhood! It is all worth it! |

Hey Maryanne, Sorry to hear your having all these problems when you should be enjoying your baby! it must be hard!? I would definitely consult a neurologist, I've heard constantley of women having all types of problems from simply pushing to hard during the birthing process, also have you gotten your thyroid checked? you might want to consider that too. Well, good luck on getting an answer. Sarah |

Maryanne, I'm sorry girl! I would get a second opinion on the numbness thing, just to rule out anything funky even though you don't want to know. It might be a nerve, or something else? I think the sweating thing is probably hormonal. Our bodies go through so many changes after we have a baby, I think it will probably work itself out in time. After I had my baby my hair started falling out in clumps, so that was fun too. Ah, motherhood! Hang in there. |

Maryanne! Go see a nuerologist and an endocrinologist, k? I had the numbness in the hands, the sweats, the eye floaters and a few other symptoms...dizziness, weight inconsistency, migraines with vertigo to name a few. I thought I was losing my mind and that something was seriously wrong! I ended up having a form of thyroiditis caused by the pregnancy. Now the only syptom I have left (my baby is 9 mo. now) is occasional migraine with some dizziness. Even it is lessening with each month that passes. But, you need to go. You'll feel tons better just knowing what's up with your body and then you'll be able to take your mind of it and on to your precious daughter!

Oh and btw, postpartum thyroiditis is VERY common and usually not a big deal to treat, just so you know |

thanks guys but i already have a thryoid problem way before the pregancy and my endo said it was normal. the numbers he said were in the correct range and to stick to my meds but nothing has changed. i believe that my thyroid is going to fast instead of what it usually was, slow but the numbers arent showing that. i think maybe i need a new endo because what i am going through is making me nuts!!! |

You know Maryanne you are making me think! I have a long standing thyroid issue as well, Hypo-thyroid and since I hd my son almost 9 months ago my symptoms have been acting up again. In fact I have had a significant weight gain to boot post pregnancy but my doc says my numbers are in the normal range with my meds as they are. I think we both need to seek new docs and convnce them to recheck our blood work and suggest that perhaps our numbers read a little differently than normal since our symptoms are obviously saying something different!! :) |
