Elk Grove Playgroup
Public group from Elk Grove, CA

Welcome to everyone
I am so excited about getting this play group going. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am working on finding different locations were we can meet up and let the kids all get to know each other. I am also waiting for some better weather. Please if you have any ideas e-mail me or post it and I am sure between us we can figure out something fun for the kids. Thanks Jennifer

Hi Jennifer: I am having trouble finding an age-appropriate playgroup for my two kids (2 and 6). All the playgroups seem to be for babies. Yours seems to be a better fit. My daughter is 6 and in first grade, and my son is 2-1/2. There aren't any kids in our neighborhood who are their ages. My daughter has friends at school and one classmate she gets together with occasionally, but I am looking for some more friends her age who we can get together with on a regular basis. I like to take my kids to parks in good weather, and in bad weather we have found the indoor McDonald's playland (on Elk Grove Blvd.) a lot of fun.

I understand completely. I have such an age range that finding playmates is really hard. For the most part my kids get to play with their cousins. My age range is 19mo. boy, 3 1/2 year old girl, and my just about 5 year old son. For the most part I do the same as far as getting the kids to the park when the weather permits. My 2 older children have spent a bit of play time at the McDonalds on E.G. Blvd. So far they have gone with my grandmother. If you are interested when we have some better weather I would love to meet up at one of the parks and let the kids play. What park or parks in the area do you like ? Let me know what you think.

We like the big park at the corner of Elk Grove-Florin and Sheldon (not sure of the name but it is a newer park), and we also like the smaller one on Silverberry (near Elk Grove-Florin). I just this week discovered that the Elk Grove Community Services District has what is called "Pee Wee Open Gym" at the Wackford Complex on Bruceville. They have their gym open to kids age 2-6 on Tue-Wed-Th from 11:30 to 1:30. For $3 per child the kids can play with balls, play on mats & a tunnel, a basketball hoop and some other stuff. It was really fun just to run around and play (and get out of the house on a rainy day!). My kids had so much fun that we are going back there today. We will be there around 12 or 12:30 if you would like to come by too. If not, we can try to meet at a park when the weather is better.

I am so sorry that i have not replied we have had some medical issues taking up a lot of my time this last month. First I know the park at E.G. Florin and Sheldon that one is not far from where we live. I also know about pee wee gym I have taken my kids a few times and they love it as well. There is also another place out in Laguna just past Franklin called Laguna's awesome party palace. It is an in door bouce house set up. They have it open to the public during the day and i think it costs $6 per child. We have not done that one yet. I would love to meet up at pee wee gym next week if my kids are well and not contagious and provided i don't end up sick. Let me know what day and time works best for you. Thanks Jen

Hi Jennifer:

I hit "decline" on your invitation thinking there would be a place to post a message with it, but there wasn't. Didn't want to just decline and not explain! We won't be able to make it to pee wee gym this week but possibly next week. We'll keep trying! My daughter is back in school so I'm kind of tied to her schedule right now, but can still do outings with my son from time to time.
