I have a 3 year old, and after several years of having her sleep with mom, now I need to break this habit.  She is so resistant.  She naps in her own room but will not spend the night.  If she falls asleep and wakes in the middle of the night and realizes she is in her bed it's over.......  for mommie. She screams and cries for over an 45 mins if i don't get her.  What can I do?  I have tried the tough love approach and walk her back to her room if she gets out of bed.  But that doesn't last the entire night....I tried reassuring her she is ok and don't be afraid....

HELP  I Have a nite light for her as well...

tonight she wore me down...she climbed out of bed consistently for three hours.... Now she is in my bed...... so i guess i can finally go to sleep after this posting,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,CryYellFrown

It's gonna take quite a while for her to get used to sleeping in her own bed by herself.  When we went on vacation a few months ago my 2 year old ended up sleeping with me the whole time. My sister in law didn't have a bed for katie to sleep in so she slept with me.  When we got back home katie would wake up in the middle of the night and come crawl in bed with me.  I didn't notice until i work up that she was there.  It's really hard but i have to get up and take her back to her room and put her to sleep.  She's getting better she hasn't crawled in bed with me in about a week.  Have you tried getting her a "special sleep bear"  I had to do that with katie except her's was a sleep monkey.  I let her pick it out and told her this was for her to sleep with.  It worked wonders.  She even asks for her sleep monkey when it's time for bed and she's out like a light from 930 to 730.  That would be my advise tho.

Thank you for the advice, my daughter has several sleep toys, baby elmo a favorite dolly and a puppy.  It's a little crowded in that bed of hers....Truth is I am plum worn out.
