Wall paper
I have a friend that uses wallpaper remnants which you will find in a catalog book for "scrapbooking" as opposed to using acid free paper.

Does anyone know how long the wall paper will hold up? Will it turn yellow? I was just curious. I thought it was a great idea when she showed me?

Hi Kellie!

Looks like we have something else in common - scrapbooking!

I don't know about the chemicals in wallpaper, but I do know that there is a spray on the market to use on items that aren't acid-free to make them less acidy. Probably can get it at scrapbook store or crafts store.

Some wallpapers would be great for scrapbooking. We used to use them for collages in preschool, but I never thought about scrapbooking with them! That's a good idea!

I love scrapbooking, but it can be costly, in other words, for me, expensive. So when I met up with this other woman last week, she introduced me to wall paper. She has the die cast cut outs and everything. I loved the idea. So, I wanted to know, how long it will hold up.

If I can do this method, and just buy the spray on stuff you told me to get, then I can start putting all my pictures together more often.

Also, any recommendations for scissors. Any brand out there that is the best, or any patterned scissors will do?

I am excited, knowing that I can finally put together albums at an inexpensive price.

Thanks, KL

I find scrapbooking to be expensive, too, if I don't watch it!

At one time I had found a set of 20 decorative edge scissors through LTDCommodities.com that were very cheap. Then when I left child care work I gave my scissors to the center because the kids loved them so much! The scissors worked just fine and I was very happy with them.

Start with a pair that is deckled or scalloped (or both if you can get two). Those are classic and go with almost any layout. As for brands, well, I think Fiskar is the best, but will buy something less expensive if available.

I've also used pictures cut from greeting cards to decorate, and I journal a lot in my scrapbooks and that adds to the layout and takes up space.

I wish I could show you my album! If I ever get it scanned and uploaded to the Internet I'll let you know!

Thanks, I never thought of using greeting cards. I am going to the fabric store later, and I am going to invest in the scissors you recommended. That would be great to upload your album. Thanks for all the helpful advice.
