Hey everyone!  My name is Karyn Williams.  When I saw the name of this group, I was intrigued because of some of my life experiences.  I wanted to let you know about a book that I wrote with my dad that has just released. It's called "The Takeaway", and it's a book that is encouraging parents all over the country, so I just wanted you guys to know about it!

Two years ago, I decided to move to Nashville, TN to pursue a career in music.  I am the eldest daughter in a family of 19 children, and my entire family was (and still is) in Orlando, so it was going to be a tough move.  I wanted to give my dad a really special "going away" present, but nothing I came up with felt sufficient enough, so I decided to write him a card.  In the card, I thanked him for all he had poured into my life, and then I made a list of his most important life lessons that I would always carry with me.  

When I gave him the card, we both cried, but then my dad got quiet for a minute and shouted, "Karyn, this is a book!"  That's how "The Takeaway" was born, and the list that I wrote that day have become the chapter titles.

It's a unique book, written from both perspectives - parent & "child."  And it is a very real & raw look at some of our struggles & triumphs. 

The heart of the message is simply: Parents, you are getting through to your children even when you think you're not.  And kids, listen to your parents....one day you'll realize that they knew what they were talking about!
