I am working on Potty training my 14month old as I am pregnant and due in December and really dont want 2 babies in diapers...what are the best cloth training pants out there. We used disposable diaper with her but I really dont see the need to spend the money on disposable training pants...i thought i would just jump online but there are so many different ones out there, I really dont know where to start.
Thanks Mandi |

Please let me know what you decide to try. I am potty training my 18 month old little girl and I also want to use cloth training pants. In my opinion, the regular diapers do not give them the picture that you don't want them to soil those, but you want them to go on the toilet. |

Hello Mandi You can get these panties that the outside of the pantie is plastic material and I believe cloth in the middle. I have seen them at BabiesRUs, Target, and Walmart. I work at a day care and have potty trained a lot of children. We potty train children starting out with underwear right away. We change them a lot in the beginning but children do not like to be wet so they start going on the potty very quick. Good luck |

Hi Mandi, My daughter is 5 years old now, but when she was around 18-20 months old I potty trained her by making it a very big deal that if she went on the potty, she could wear big girl panties. We went to the store together and picked out her favorite pairs. She was so excited and couldn't wait to wear them. I put them on her right away so she would see what it felt like if she wet her pants. It may be a little messy at first, but it didn't take her long to get fully potty trained. |

Hi Mandi: I have a 21 month old great granddaughter and I am trying to potty train her. Her Doctor stated that if you try to train them before the age of, they will revert later on. Is that true or is he just behind the times? Linda |

I have always heard don't put to much stress on it or they will take longer to potty train or will revert. I wanted to train my daughter and baught her a seat when she was around 14 months because I did not want to have two in diapers just like you. She didn't show too much interest in it at first. When she did around 20-22 months, we would use the cloth panties that have the thick absorbant center and put the vinyl pants on with them. Pull-ups just pull the wetness away from them-I wouldn't waste my money on them. We never bought them and the oldest is just over two years and totally trained. |

I think you daughter is way too young, I am not saying it can't happen, but with a new baby coming into the picture she may go back wanting to be in diapers!! But good luck! I have a two year old who is close to two and a half and is not really interested if you push her, so we just let her be and she will go sometimes but not all the time, so when she is ready!!! |

Good luck! I couldn't even imagine trying to train my 14 month old. So...I have 2 in diapers. It's not bad...somewhat expensive, but not bad. It's running us about $40-60 a month total for diapers. Closer to 40 as we get a huge box of each size and both girls are changed 3-4 times a day.... |

Mandi-Good luck with the potty training. My girls are all over the board from 26 months with the first and 18 months with the second. My third girl is 24 months and just now showing interest.
All children are different. I totally agree with the Moms stating not to waste money on a pull up because it simulates the diaper and they don't much care if they are wet/soiled.
It is hard work being Mom. You will do great! |
