playgroups for lil ones

Does anyone have advice for local playgroups?  My son is only 8 months but he is so actve and social I would like him to be involved with other children.  I looked into Gymboree but it is not that close to me and a little pricey!

Jade,

First off where are you located?  I am in Mars/Cranberry area.  I have moved 4 times in the last 5 years due to my husband's job.  We are here for a long haul.  In these moves I have learned about a few things that can help find playgroups.  Here is what I have found that has worked for me...

MOMS Club International, they have a $25 yearly dues but it is well worth it.  I belong to mine here and it has been a godsend.  we usually have at least one playdate a week if not 2 or 3.  We were also placed in a playgroup that fits my needs for my children and have become very good friends with the women in the group.

MeetUp.com...there are tons of groups on there for playgroups and events.

In Cranberry they have playgroups set every Tuesday morning for $3 per family.  This is structured play with an instructor.

I belong to the YMCA here but you can also just pay per class.  They have Gym classes for $25 every 6 weeks.  Might be worth it to check them out.

Our local library does story/play hour once a week.

I could go on and on but here are what we are taking advantage of recently.  Good luck and if you need to feel free to PM or respond to this email.
