Does anyone have any advice. I have a 4 month old adorable son, but he is not yet sleeping through the night. I am exclusively breastfeeding and am wondering if anyone has any advice on what I could do to help him. He did sleep through the night once, so i know he can do it, but unfortunately it hasn't happened again!!! Help!! |

Hi becs, I understand what you are going through. Emilie seems to sleep through the night in spirts. Lately she is up at about 4 am and wanting to play, this is making me so tired. She was BF until about 3 months and then I used formula, once she started on the bottle I would have her dad get up and feed her. (this way I could get some rest too). You could always try a breast pump to fill bottles for night time feedings so dad can help out. Most hospitals rent them as they are expencive to buy. Hang in there as your son gets older he will most likely start sleeping through the night. |

Have you tried putting him in swing to sleep? My son had really bad gas and would not sleep lying down for more that a couple of hours at a time. I watched this dvd called "the happiest baby on the block", and I learned that it was safe to let my baby sleep in his swing. Something about the sitting position combined with the motion is comforting to babies....kinda like being in the womb I guess and it worked like magic for us. I just put the swing next to my bed and my little guy was out like a light from 9pm to 8am for a good 4 months before he realized he could stop the swing by grabbing onto the dangling fishies and then we had to come up with a new strategy which we've been trying to perfect for the last 2 months. |

I was having the same problem and my Dr. suggested cluster feeding at night, feeding every 2 hrs. Along with that she told me to try mixing a bottle with breast milk and formula to keep her full longer. It worked for me but I had to start slowly mixing the bottles b/c the formula gave her a stomach ache at first. |

Becs... To get my daughter to sleep through the night while still breast feeding I started a routine with her every night. Gave her a bath, then fed her in her room sitting in a rocker with the lights off. Then I placed her in her crib. It took a few days but eventually she sleeps through the night. Babies need routine. Hope this helps. |
