My dr told me to watch my sons sugar and caffine intake. There are probably other things that trigger him, but you can not give it to him and see how it goes. Any day can be a bad day for them. I know that overcast and rainy/snowy days are hard for my son and anytime his day starts off wrong is a bad day. Hope this helps a little. Marie |

Most everything does, but just cutting out the obvious, or limiting them ( which is what I do for all my kids). He is not allowed caffine except maybe on a special occasion. Caffine Free sodas are allowed a bit more, but not often either. I try not to keep a lot of sweets in the house, and waht is in the house are limited- to all the kids. That is the way I make it fair and actually my kids aren't really big on sweets. I make koolaid with less sugar than reccomended also. Family knows what he can and cannot have so it helps. I have heard cutting out things can help, but one I cannot afford the organic stuff and two if you limit it sometimes that helps. I know he deosn't eat a lot of bread and that helps some. marie |

I have had to deal with ADHD with my daughter and her son. I think you need to decide if you want your son to have a positive day or a day that everyone is always telling him to stop doing something or days that you are so frazzled that you make everyone miserable and you are too exhausted for the other members of your family. My nephew has ADHD as well and him Mom and Dad did not want him medicated. They finally had to give in when he got to school. These klids cannot concentrate and they keep everyone else from concentrating. They have very few friends when they are in school and the teachers are spending more time dealing with behavior than teaching. I tried all of the diet things with my daughter. No red dye, no sugar, etc. It helped a little but not enough for her to have a positive experience in school and church etc. I finally gave in to the medication to save my own sanity. good luck. I do not have any regrets about my decision. Please forgive the typo's. It is late. I'm off to bed. |
