Mommy and Me Groups?

Hi. I found this website by looking online to try to find a mommy and me group in my area. I found some groups that say they have playgroups or stuff for moms but when my husband doesn't seem to think these are true mommy and me groups. Do you know how to go about finding a mommy and me group in my area? If you ladies are involved in this type of group can you tell me what it's like so I know what I am looking for? Thanks for your help.

Generally, if it says it's a "mom's group" it probably is.

There are a bunch of different ones out there and they are all runned a little differently.  There are Mom Groups that are associated with a larger organization that offer a lot of things for moms with kids of all ages.  There are also smaller groups that are very localized that are just as good.  If you find a group via RaisingThem.com, Meetup.com, or some other kind of parenting site, then it's going to be a mom's group.

Now, that doesn't mean that a Mom's Group is primarily for playdates either.  My mom's group gets together for Mom Nights Out.  We're going to the bar and doing some karaoke tonight.  The Mom's Groups are there for support as much as they are for playgroups too.

Have you been to meetup.com yet?  Have you checked here for Mom Groups?  I found the one I go to here on raising them and it works.

What website did you find?

I belong to two Mom's meet up groups in my city and they're really great.

We get out twice a week with them... One group tours all of the Tourist Attractions that are baby friendly in my city....and the other does more play groups and baby talk groups.

I also found that our local libraries host baby story time events and there are other groups in my city that meet at community centres and elementary schools...So, I'd start with the meet up group, but also check out local notice boards at Commununity / Rec centres... you never know, there might be other groups that are a good fit for you too.
