Bleeding & Bedrest

Hey guys, I am 14 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child (my sons are 6 and 10 months), and this morning I had some bleeding & cramping. This happened twice before, both times due to either sex or vaginal exam, so neither was a major concern. This time had no reason. I went to my doctor and he urged that I go on partial bedrest, no lifting, no groceries, no chores, etc... I have a 10 month old son, how can I not lift him?? We can't afford to hire someone to come watch him for the next two weeks and my family & friends are unable to be here during the time that my husband is at work. Any suggestions? I don't want to do anything to harm the new baby, but I don't know how I will manage the next few weeks with my very active crawling baby!

I totally understand.  I know it is almost impossible not to lift. Do the best you can. Do not lift if you do not have to. Only if absolutely have to. Do you have a pack and play.  Maybe you can put your toddler in there sometimes with a toy.  We can chat online if you like. candid1021@yahoo.com. I am on yahoo messenger.

Hi Katie, I know exactly what you mean.  I don't know why doctors say such dumb things like that, you should have asked him can he come to your house a babysit your kid for a while so you can rest (LOL).  I jokingly tell my sister in law, "Bedrest, hmm, there is no such thing as bedrest for a momma". The only suggestions I have are to ...........

A. Contact your insurance or a local group like "nurses for new borns" and see if the provide a service that allows a nurse to come to your house and check on you for a while and help a little with your baby.

B. You and a loved one set up a prepared resting area for you that is close to a bathroom and the kitchen and phone and so on.  Set up your play pen and a few toys.  Collect everything you might need like pampers wipes maybe a small waste basket and babyfood items or snacks.  "Camp out" on a pallette or couch well equipted to have a stress free day with minimal moving and lifting.
