Oak Harbor Young Mothers
Public group from Oak Harbor, WA

Hello, I'm new

Hello,

I am new to the group and just wanted to introduce myself.

I am a mother of 2 beautiful children.  A daughter who is almost 2 and a beautiful baby boy who just turned 6 months old.  We have  been here for a few years, but I have been too busy having babies to get out a whole lot.  We have also recently just moved into town, which makes it easier to get out with the kids now.  We're Canadian military posted here for another few years, and hope to start meeting new people outside of our Canadian community.

You sound a lot like me :) I have a 15 month old daughter and will be having a son in June. We have been here in Oak Harbor since 2005 though. I used to be in the Navy  but now am a Stay at home Mom. My husband is still in the Navy, stationed in a vp squadron :)

It's very busy, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.  They get along together so well.  She's just wonderful with her brother.  When I was pregnant we'd asked her where the baby was and she'd blow kisses on my belly for him.  Now she just covers the poor boy with them.  It's great.  As all the other Canadians down here, my husband works at NOPF.  It was nice when we got here because just being here was considered our deployment. They have started however to deploy with the Americans which is kind of cool, since to date there has only ever been one.  He may be going in the fall.

I just noticed you also have a 5 year old step son.  Oddly enough, I do too!  His name is Damon.  He's 5 and a half now and lives with his mother in Labardor (it's way up north).  He comes out with us for 6 weeks in the summer.

I don't know how I'm gonna do it with 2! :) But I'm sure I'll be ok. My husband is supposed to deploy next month for 6 months :( So he won't be here for our son's birth. It stinks but my mom is going to come up and be here with me! (I don't know what NOPF is, unless it's the building with the big fence around it and the Canadian flag) When I was in the Navy we went to San Diego on a detachment and there was a canadian aircrew down there with us! :)

I gave my daughter a doll a few months before the baby came, and we started taking care of the doll.  Right from the day we brought him home, she'd help by getting his diapers, getting his pacifier for he when he was crying, taking him toys.  Where they are so young, they don't seem to get jealous which made it easy.  They have such a close bond now, they sometimes I swear they don't even need me!  After a short time, you won't even notice that two was more work than one.  It honestly seems easier.  They amuse each other.  The hard part for me was the few months before Noah was born.  I was sooo big and wanted so much to play with my daughter and hold her and get as much one on one time in with her, but it was too hard.  I couldn't carry her, or hold her on my lap.  I felt guilty that I could give her the attention that I felt that she needed.

Yes, NOPF is the building with the fence.  We're scattered in a bunch of different places through out the states.  It's kind of a cool posting to have.

LOL ok :) I used to run past it for PT when I was in the navy still! My daughter has a doll and I actually dressed it in real baby boy clothes so she would get used to it but she throws the doll and hits hit against the wall sometimes. I think I'll have to watch her closely!

I was hoping her being so young would stop the jealousy thing. :) Nice to hear it worked for someone! My daughter might take his pacifier... she is only allowed to have hers while she is napping or sleeping in her crib.

I know what you mean about not being able to pick her up! My back is already killing me and she only weighs 21 lbs! I still got 2 1/2 months to go :)

Do you have myspace? I use that much more often than I am on here! I just came on today to post about the easter egg hunts. We will probably see you tomorrow at the egg hunt on base though :) kids 2 and under are in the same age group so our girls will be together :)

Haha yeah mine likes to run the opposite direction of where we try to get her to go... and she's also loud! I'm the pregnant one with the crazy 15 month old! I have a facebook too but don't use it as much as myspace... mostly just change my status. I just sent you a request on facebook. I'll add you to my address book too... my email is tiffany_1686@Hotmail.com :)

Yeah, I'm in my email like all day.  I'm part of a committee down here for the Canadian families, trying to make things easier for those posted here.  Just wrapping up work for the evening now, so we'll see you at the easter egg hunt.  Try to sleep well.  I know for the second half of my pregnacy I didn't.

Somehow I missed the post about your stepson last night! Mine lives in New York with his Mom. His name is Ashton and we don't get him in the summer time. My husband is trying to work something out with his mom because we only see him twice a year for about 2 weeks at a time.  That is so WEIRD! :)
