Hi Faith...I went through this with my daughter (11 months old) about a month ago. She had a stomach virus and then ended up with hives afterwards. When I took her to see her Pediatrician they said that it was most likely because of the virus. Usually they would get the hives prior to a virus but Sienna got hives after the virus. They lasted about a day or two and then were gone. I made sure that there was nothing different in her feedings/food or anything else that may have caused them. They had suggested giving her claritin not benadryl if she seemed bothered by the itching. I did give her that before bed time to make her more comfortable.
I would definitley check with the pedi about dosage if you do end up using an antihistamine. Good luck and try not to worry too much. I know it's easier said then done. Right now Sienna has had a fever since yesterday and is dealing with yet another virus. I took her yesterday and there is no infection, but it's hard to see your baby so uncomfortable. I may be dealing with hives again myself soon. Good luck. |
