Public group from Glastonbury, CT

hi! is this an active group?

based on the dates of the posts, it looks like there's not much activity?

I started this group when my daughter was born and have had no responses. Needless to say she is 11 months old now, lol. Do you live in the area? I am a stay at home Mom.

hi! i live in glastonbury.  looks like you live close by in east hartford?  there are a lot of members in this group so i'm surprised you've had no responses. that's really too bad :( well i'm happy i at least met you through this.  our daughters are close in age - mine's 9 months. i'm also a stay at home mom.  do you belong to any other groups that do have regular get-togethers? i just started looking for local playgroups on the internet earlier this week. sometimes i worry that my daughter ava needs to interact with more people. right now her world only has two people in it - me and my husband. do you ever go to the park for stroller walks?

Hi Audrey, sounds like we already have something in common because the most interaction my daughter Sienna has on a daily basis is me and my husband...more me though. She is 11 months old and seems a bit slow in some of her gross motorskills. Sometimes I wonder if it's because she doesn't spend enough time with other children. As a matter of fact I have a date set to have her evaluated by Birth 2 3 this Tuesday.

I do live in East Htfd. Unfortunately because the weather has been cold up until now I have not been taking her out too much. Today we went out to visit some relatives and went to the park for a bit. I was a bit hesitant to start this group because when it comes to meeting strangers I get a bit nervous, but for the sake of my daughter having the interaction she needs I decided to try this. I have yet to meet anyone though.

You mentioned that you and your husband are who your daughter spends most of her time with. How is she as far as her motorskills if you don't mind me asking? I'm just curious if I am making too much of this with Sienna and overreacting.

what is birth 2 3?  ava has been slow on every motor skill but i don't think it's because she doesn't spend time with other kids.  she's a big girl (>90% by weight and height) and our doctor said bigger babies take longer to do things e.g. rollover, sit, crawl, stand etc. because they are heavier but not stronger than average size babies.  she didn't start rolling over front to back until she was 4.5 months, sitting up on her own until she was 5 months, and she didn't start rolling over back to front until 7 months. ava also hated being on her stomach.  she's more comfortable on her tummy now but it'll be a while before she starts crawling.  those developmental milestone charts can drive you crazy. i used to get really hung up on them but i'm more relaxed about it now because she may not start crawling or walking at the average time but i know she'll do it eventually. i know everyone says this but it's true that all babies are different.  all that matters is that she's happy and healthy!

i was also hesitant about the idea of meeting up with people from the internet but tons of women meet men on all those dating websites so i figure meeting moms with babies is ok!

hi sandy - i just wanted to let you know about meetup.com in case you hadn't heard of it.  i joined a playgroup there and went to my first meetup yesterday at riverside park in glastonbury.  this group definitely seems to get together regularly.  you should check it out! and if you ever want to get together for our own playdate, just let me know! audrey:)
