I am a graduate student, plus I work. So I am already busy and don't really have to find things to do. But I agree that being busy makes things a hell of a lot easier. I am in a long distance relationship (because of school) as well as dating a musician, so we see each other even less and it just makes things really complicated.
But definitely do stuff. Couping yoruself up just makes you think about things more. I know its hard to have fun at first when you are sad and missing him, but once you get out and about with friends it gets a lot easier. Have sleep overs like when you were 12....then you don't even have to be alone at night EVERY night :) |

When I know that my guy is going to be gone for a long stretch I plan some kind of volunteer huge project just to keep myself extra busy. I've thrown photography showcases, Christmas parties, right now I'm working on a fundraiser concert. The goal is to be so busy that the days just fly by. It helps a lot. |

Hey Susan,
Thanks for your share. some really good points there about how our guys handle touring.
As for the anniversary night. Have you tought about planning something special with your friends? Celebrate your anniversary even though he can't be with you? I think that might be a fun distraction.
Take care,
Emily |

I am new here. I am a girlfriend to a very sweet musician. He is coming into touring more and more, and he hasn't done it so much before, so I figure things I'd never expect will come up. We keep a shared gmail calendar to keep up with practices and school stuff for me... My biggest concern is me drifting off when he travels. I get very anxious right before he goes, but then when he's gone, it really only affects me at night when I have to go to sleep. I suppose this is only because I am so busy. I need alone time. I miss him, of course, but I don't get as nuts as when we were first together...
If he didn't talk to me for seven weeks, though... wow. I dont know if I'd handle that too well. I know I'll probably have to do it someday. For now, though, he's pretty good at keeping in touch.
The changeover for me is really an attitude thing. I try to look forward to having time alone rather than pine. I have girls night and study mostly. We have a lot of friends that are around, and a lot of them are musicians too.
My biggest concern is the decision to start a family with that schedule. Missing birthdays and school events like plays and stuff.. and not to mention illnesses and loss. I don't know how he and I will be able to work it out, or if we'll ever have a family. |

Hey Sister, we must have been posting at the same time. I say keep your phone in the drawer. Do your thing for you. Try to get some good rest and then do your Pilates. You sound waist high in The Crazies and that's no bueno. I know the only way that I can shake my crazies off is to kind of go out and go a little wild myself. Have you gotten your rock and roll on lately? That could be very important right now. I don't know why by very loud live music alwasy helps my crazies. |

Hello everyone. I stumbled on your group when looking for a parenting group, and I find this fits perfectly.
I will give you a little blurb about myself, I am a mother of three and a wife of a former musician "guy" . I am CANADAIN EH, and love the group you have started...
Hope to meet or converse more with all of you.

I usually take an ice chest and a bag of food on the road with us. I have things like yogurt, string cheese, hard boiled eggs, turkey or chicken, baby carrots, raisins, whole wheat bread, milk and then these awesome cookies I make with nut flour. I think the harest about eating on the road is getting enough good protein, fiber and not so much fat. So I try to take things with that in mind. We make sandwiches and have healthy snacks and things that are easy. This time I didn't have a chance to do that. Yesterday we were in a really small town and had two choices, Mc Donalds or Pizza. uuuuuugh. I sooooo wished I'd had time to pack the ice chest. |

Hey CHicks,
I think that something is wrong with the e-mail alert system on tihs board. I keep getting e-mails that Jackie replied to my post and it's the post you made above. weird.
Anyway, just check in on y'all. I'm packing up my house. It's actually going pretty smoothly so far. I thought it would be much crazier. But I still had a bunch of stuff still packed from last summer. I got everything out of the attic pretty painlessly and cleaned out my shelves and dresser. Just have to move the furniture and clean up my desk and pack my files and kitchen. Hopefully it will be all done by tomorrow and I can just clean on Sunday.

Hey Jackers! I'm going to be out in LA next month if you're interested in meeting up. If you're not I understand too because the anonymity thing is cool. But I'd love to see you if you're game. |

Hey ladies. I'm probably not going to be able to post here anymore. I thought this place was password potected and only open to other group members. However, I guess I was wrong and my annonymity and safety to talk here has been compromised. I'm really sorry and I care about you all and this place dearly.

Hi Ladies,
This place it no password protected. I was under the impression that only group members could read what we write but that is not the case. Evidently anyone can do a google search and then read every word of this thread.
I would love to keep in touch with you all. However, this is no longer a safe place for me anymore. I know that through "raising them" you can send messages so please feel free to send me a message.
Love and hope to you all. |
