My DH and I are going to move in the next month and to save some money for a down payment on a house during tax season in '08 we are going to be living in a camper, yes a camper, lol! We will be keeping most of our things that there is no room for in a small storage building. I thought that to save on some money we could buy some things from a wholesale store like BJ's or Sam's. Here are a few things I was thinking of: toilet paper, paper towels, diapers, wipes, shampoo & conditioner, bathwash, deodorant, toothpaste, and any household cleaning products. The problem is I think it would be okay to keep these things in the storage building, but I was also thinking of doing juice, cereal, and some dried goods. I am not so sure about the storage building for these things though, the storage buildings are very nice and I believe some are climate controlled, just not ours. What do you ladies think about keeping some dried goods there until we use them??
I also need some ideas for how to keep this small, quaint, little camper under control with 2 small children without loosing my mind. I know that perfection in such a small place with children is impossible, but I don't want it to get out of hand to the point of where I am going insane. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! |

| Last summer we had to move out of our house for a couple mths. due to water damage. Everything had to come out and was stored in the moving company's warehouse. Here's my experience w/that: the movers packed everything in cardboard boxes which allowed mice to get in. Unknown to us the mice were brought into our house in these boxes. It has been mths. since then & we are still trying to get rid of them. (I have a dog & grandchildren so I don't want to put out poison, we've been using traps of various kinds. Last body count was over 15 mice & I know there are more!) The mice also got in a lot of my non-perishable packaged foodstuff. They also got into boxes of clothes & sheets, sometimes shredding items & making quite a mess. So, I would recommend anything you pack should be in plastic totes that the rodents can't get into. Sealing the totes w/duct tape will help keep the critters out. As for cleaning supplies, our stuff was not climate controlled so some bottles burst making an even bigger mess than the mice! I ended up throwing quite a few things out. Hope this helps! |
