I am not yet a mom, so to speak, I am pregnant, still kinda early... I ahev fallen on some bad luck with the child's father. He denied us and now wants nothing to do with us... I ahve yet to tell my mom and dad, I know they will be so disappointed with me :( and that makes me very sad... anyway what programs do you know that miht be able to assist young single mothers in getting shelter w/o going to SSI?

Local churches, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (at least that's what it's called in Oklahoma - welfare to be a little less politically correct), I believe while you're still just pregnant there really isn't a whole lot. Your best bet is to go down to Department of Human Services or whatever your equivalent is and ask - even if you don't want help from them they may know more of what the resources in your area are.
