fighting hunger

I would like to invite anyone who is interested to donate any old clothes of household items anything that could be used as yardsale items. I am trying to plan a huge yard sale. All the proceeds will be donated to feed the children. It will be given to american children some right in our community will receive food from feed the children. If you have never seen a feed the childrens program it is very sad. A single mother of five said that she had to split one box of macaroni and cheese between all five kids and she just wouldn't eat. The kids were only aloud to have either one small glass of milk or milk on there cereal. They could only have one serving. The kids did not get a snack afterschool. They drank alot of water they said to try and fill their stomachs so they wouldn't be hungry. This broke my heart. When ever I think about children going hungry it really does make me cry. I will tell you my story. My family is middle class and appear to be a happy regular middle class. We had the worst year ever last year. Read my profile to get my story. I was in a financial crisis. I had no formula for the baby no milk i had no food. I mean none nothing in my pantry or fridge. I have 4 children myself and my husband. As the homemaker I am supposed to prepare the meals. I stood there that morning looking in the fridge and the pantry hoping something would magically pop up, but it didn't. When my kids started asking for lunch I began to cry I honestly had no idea what to do. We ate alot of meals with my parents but there money was tight at the time as well and they had just enough to get them through until payday. I had no where to turn. I did something I have never done or had to do before, I called different churches and organizations to try and get food. After a few calls I reached a lady that ran a local food bank that receive most of her food from feed the children. I told her my situation and within a few hours I had enough food for 2 weeks. She took the time and planned good healthy meals and snacks. I got 5 loaves of bread and a case of gatorade. It was alot of food I was shocked. Sometimes when you think of a food bank you would think you would just get a few things whatever they had on the shelf like some do. (beggers can't be choosers) i have learned that the hard way. This lady put so much into the boxes she prepared for our family. I was driving my moms car because we were so broke I didn't have enough money or gas to get there. When she got finished helping me load up we filled the trunk with boxes and the back seat of the car. She even gave me a ton of vegetables that were grown in her garden. This women truly helped my family. I keep thinking we almost went hungry. I looked at my kids when they were eating there supper that night and started to cry. I said to my husband how God had blessed us truly that day. if it weren't for the food bank my children wouldn't have ate dinner. Think if  that were your family. Really try and sit and think for a minute and imagine that it was your family and what you would tell your children when you had no snack or no meals, no cereal for breakfast, nothing at all. Then if you have no money you can't give them lunch money for school. What in the world would you do. It is not as real until it happens to you. I am telling you it is sad and still hard totalk about how diffidcult it was at that time. There are kids in america right now going hungry. They have nothing ar all to eat. Just imagine really hard if that was your child, picture it in your mind. I have know idea what is going through the parents mind when they have to tell the kids you can't have dinner we don't have any food. They go to bed hungry and wake up hungry and no breakfast. This is real people and it is happening right in our on neighborhood. Even if your thinking not my neighborhood I live in nice neighborhood. Guess what so do I and it happened to me. Statistics say that one out of every ten children in school live in poverty and don't have meals sometimes at home, also there is over 83 homeless children in the Pitt co. Greenville area at the homeless shelter. That is only the ones who are registerd. If the mothers ond the kids stay in the shelter at night they have to leave in the morning and be out of the shelter all day until dinner time. The people line up and hope that they have room but what if they don't have room for the mom and her kids. Where would they go. They would have to find shelter on the street. Once again try and think about it. We can never imagine how bad that parent must feel. If you want a true blessing ask if you can tour a local homeless shelter. You will see the parents and children there making the best of it or try and volunteer at soup kitchens. Volunteer this thanksgiving to help at the shelters serve thanksgiving dinner to the needy and you will see a little of what life is like for them. It will seem a little more real. that would truly show you what thanksgiving is all about and make every little problem seem so small compared to these peoples live. I read that most american are only 2-3 paychecks from being homeless. If something unexpected comes up or an emergency that messes up there budget. Then they can't pay the mortgage and before you know it you are out on the street, for real. I have been trying to find away to do somethings with my life and helping people is something that I have a passion for. I have prayed that Lord I don't want to be rich but if you could just bless me with the money to be able to help people in need. The Lord knows whats in my heart and he knows I truly want to help people. He made me very giving and a tender big heart. I will give my last dollar I have done it before. If you give God has blessing in store for you. It may not be blessing you with money or something you are wishing for he will bless you in what ever you need. From working out a bad situation, putting a special friend in your path, but he will bless you. Gather anything that you are not going to use and get in contact with me we also would like gift card or donated canned food and fruit that we can give to the needy people in our community as well as feed the children. I want to have a huge response to this post. I am going to do my part to fight hunger. I have not set a date or location yet for the yard sale i am waiting to see if anyone responds to this post. I will be praying that this will come together. Every little bit counts, so when your spring cleaning just throw your unwanted things in a box you can bring them buy or I will do pick ups. I would love to have some volunteers to help out and organize this event. I am open for any suggestion that may be of interest. I just want to fight hunger in our community and our country. Please contact me buy email at mamaof3sissys@netscape.com. My name is Dayna Mousley and I live in the Greenville area in the Black Jack community out in the sticks. Please pray for the children that will be going to bed hungry tonight or will go without food for the day. Pray that we will be able to help them all one day end hunger for families. It would be great if you belong to a church or organization that you would like to get involved with my project. They can donate items or a monetary gift would be great as well. Every dime will go to charity. You as well can make a monetary donation as well. Anything you can do will be of help. Thank you so much for reading this and please pass the word along.
