advice please!

I am a stay at home mom to a very happy wonderful 8 month old almost 9 months baby girl who currently gets my undivided attention however we found out today we are 4 weeks pregnant with baby #2. I am very excited but at the same time very worried about how my daughter is going to react to sharing her mommy with the new baby I know we still have a lot of time to plan but i also know how fast it goes by. My daughter will be just shy of 18 months old when the new baby is born and i am just really worried she wont understand I guess(that is if I make it to my due date this time lol my daughter was 4 weeks early) I was wondering if anyone else had children very close in age and how they dealt with everything--really any advice would be helpful

thanks

I only have one child right now, but my sister had her kids pretty close together and it went very well.  Make your daughter feel like an important part of having another baby.   When they are 18 mo. old they are pretty good at understanding.  Plus remember girls develop and reach mile stones faster than boys. I think it will all work out. Just relax and enjoy:)

I have two kids...a week under 18 months apart. Here is my story:

the negative:

  • Working mom - it was really hard to have a brand new baby and a pregnancy at the same time while working. I had a lot of stress...but you don't have to go thru the stress level I went thru since luckily you are a stay home mom.
  • My baby was a crying baby for 4 months...day and night. I felt I neglected a little bit my older baby.

The possitive:

  • They're right now 2.5 and 1yrs old (both boys).
  • They love each other
  • play with each other
  • laugh together
  • its a joy to see them almost the same size.
  • Sebastian had a who's that baby? look at the beginning, but since he was so young he adapted pretty fast to his brother, which was wonderful.
  • I am a free woman!!! since we don't plan to have a third...this is it...no more formula, breast-feed, and hopefully soon diapers! we can concentrate on seeing them grow and provide what we need without worrying about getting pregnant again! :)
  • I think overall it was a BLESSING getting pregnant in such a short period of time. I love that they are close in age and this is only the beggining.

Enjoy your baby and enjoy your pregnancy it will all come out beautifly ... even as tired as I feel sometimes, wouldn't change having them so close for anything in the world.

God bless you and give you strenght ... u'll need it :)
