4 month old with a cold

Hoping you all can help put my mind at ease.  My 4 1/2 month old daughter caught my husband's cold and has been sick for a week now.  She doesn't have a fever and her congestion started to get better yesterday so I assumed she was getting better overall.  My only concern and I know this may sound funny is now she is sleeping all the time.  She usually takes 3 naps a day for about 30 minutes or so each and just since yesterday she is sleeping what seems like all the time and when she is up she is very tired.  Should I be worried?  Thanks for the help it is much appreciated!

My son does this too when he is sick.   Just like when you get sick sleep helps make you heal.  I would not be worried. She might also not be getting a real deep sleep at night if she is dealing with congestion.  I hope she feels better soon.

Have u take her to the pedi? it could be that she's just tired and needs to rest but just to make sure I would have her pedi take a look.

My 4 month son just got over a cold a couple of weeks ago. He was sleeping all the time too. Does your pedi office have a nurse that you can call and talk to?

I would suggest giving your doctors office a call and talking to a nurse.  Usually, they have a triage nurse that will discuss the symptoms with you and tell you if it is something to be concerned with, what to watch out for, and if you should bring her into the office to get checked out.

It doesn't sound like anything worrisome.  At that age, my son slept a lot anyway, but they tend to sleep even more when they are sick.  As Jackie said, she may not be sleeping well at night because of the congestion, and so she may be trying to catch up during the day.  Hope she feels better soon.
