How do I put my toddler to sleep...HELP

I need suggestions...my 2 1/2 year old always gets fired up as soon as he hits the bed.

I dont' really know what to do...he starts playing, jumping, laughing, tossing and turning. I am TIRED don't know what to do.

I've tried the soothing bath, warm milk, physical activity (prior to the bath)...don't know what else to do. Sometimes he's falling asleep in the table (I usually give him milk or cereal before going to bed) I take him to sleep and as soon as he hits the bed it's play time for him....WHAT DO I DO?!!

I'd simply say firmly that it's sleepy time now.  Maybe buy a toddler book about going to bed?  Good luck!

Establishing a routine by reading a book in bed (or two or three) until he is soothed. Also make sure not to give him sugar one hour before bedtime.

just a sugestion but is there any other place in the house he takes a nap/or sometimes sleeps in?. if theres something you know for sure gets him sleepy/tired, and use it/ work that up. different things work for different kids. my son sleeps with me,(sometimes even on the couch.) hey, what ever works!

Defiantly prepare him by saying it is not play time it is sleep time or night night time. Reading a quiet book is always good. Sometimes a quiet video if they haven't already had too much tv time. My son always sleeps with classical music playing. If he sits up or starts to play I always say no it is not time to play it is time to sleep. Sometimes he cries when I leave the room but if he is playing usually he falls asleep with in 10 to 15 minutes. I always give him 30min then go to check on him. He tends to need repositioning if he was playing. :) Reenforcement of it being sleep time is best. Hope it helps.

put him to sleep in a different place driving around will help as long as your not tired you can still use johnsons bedtime products dont feed him food with high fructose corn syrup or dyes in it that is pure sugar and will definetely keep him up and i would say music and massages before bed and dont allow toys in the bedroom at all except for a teddie or comfort object make a playroom in the house for him and close and lock it at night or whenever his bedtime is
