My husband and I wanted a name that would grow with our child. We wanted a name that would go from a baby to a boy in high school and then to being a man. When it came to the middle name I wanted it to be from my side of the family, for our son will never change his last name, unlike a girl when she gets married.
With all 3 of my boys, my husband and I agreed on only one name each time.. We each made our own list and all three times we only had one name the same. Not a very romantic way of choosing, but I believe each choice was the right one. My kids really do look like their names.
#1 My mom and I were at the airport waiting for my brother to come home from visiting our dad. I was 8 months pregnant and we were talking about different names and came up with one and loved it and my hubby ended up loving it too :). Then at the hospital after he was born I asked hubby how he wanted to spell it and gave him two options and he liked the second version (I did too!) and the rest is history :). His middle name is hubby's first name.
#2 I watched a TV show and I saw a spelling of a name and I really like how it was spelled and hubby liked it too and he got to pick out the middle name :).
When it came time to choosing names I actually choose two in case I had twins My hubby and I settled on Dakota Hunter and Chayton William.
Dakota Hunter was just because we liked the sound of them together and Chayton to honor our families native american heritage (it means Falcon in Lakota Sioux) and William after my grandfather and his uncle. So we kept saying the names over and the baby would get excited when we said Chayton so we decided thats what he wanted.
