eating too much?
My 10 week old daughter is eating what seems like a lot to me. Her daycare lady told me yesterday that she had 3 6 oz bottles. That seems like almost too much, and that was from 830 am to 530 pm. Then when we got home she had two more 4 0z bottles. How much should a 10 week old be taking in every day. I know she's really hungry in the mornings becuase she sleeps all night, usually from 9 to about 6 am. But it seems like i can't give her enough formula to keep her satisfied. I'm worried i'm overfeeding my baby!

i had somewhat of the same issue, my hubby's answer to her crying was always feed her... but rule of thumb is 3-4 ozs for each lb she weighs per day, so if she is 12lbs, she shoudl have 36 ozs a day.... but babies know when they are full or hungry, as long as she isnt throwing up thats fine..

Believe me Amanda u can never (coming from my doc) overfeed a baby so do not worry ! Plus awesome that she is sleeping through the night sounds like she is really satisfied !
U are doing a food job. Dont worry !

Hi Amanda. I'm no expert, just a first time mommy, but my guess would be that one of the reasons why she sleeps so well during the night without waking up to feed is because she is so well fed throughout the day. Every baby is different. Run is by your pediatrician but to me it sounds okay.

I agree with everyone. I do not think you are over feeding your daughter. Perhaps she is just having a growth spurt! I nurse my daughter but somedays she wants to feed every hour. Her ped. says that it is fine, it is a growth spurt. They know when they are or are not hungry.

Hi
I will just say that it can be as normal as normal can be, but it could also be a problem... I would recoment to double check with the doctor ask if they can run a test to make sure she's not missing any enzimes. I am not very well informed, but I know a girl that was always hungry since she was a baby, she's very big and her parents just found out that the hunger was/is driven due to a health problem. I don't want you to panic...it could be nothing, but for your own peace of mind have her checked.
Also keep in mind that eating habits in babies change as they grow, you could also wait and see if she continues as hungry as she grows.

Hi Amanda,

When my son was 2-months old, he would eat 6oz every two hours. Babies will telll you when they are full. Somedays he'll eat more, somedays he'll eat less. As long as she's healthy and happy, you shouldn't worry about it. You are doing a great job!!

If your daughter is going through a growth spurt she will want to eat (and sleep) more. Have you started her on solids yet? At 10 months old she should be taking in some cereal and/or baby food too. I'm pretty sure my daughter was eating Cheerios and fruit/veggie puffs by ten months. Plus, baby food and cereal. Perhaps she is wanting more formula because she is not getting satisfied. You might want to talk to her Dr. about starting her on other foods.
