Diaper Rash

I dropped my daughter off at the day care without anything, not so much as a scratch or dirty diaper. After picking her up we went straight home. She ate not too long after we got home and I changed her. As soon as I layed her down her eyes got real big and she just stared at me. That's extremely unusual because when changing her diaper she's always smiling and laughing, she loves to be naked! When I took her diaper off she screamed, barely able to breath. Her butt was raw and I was baffled! I immediatly called the day care and asked what had happened. I have to provide diapers and wipes and they had run out and used someone elses wipes, scented. I have sensitive skin so we have always used the unscented just to be one the safe side. Needless to say I was furious that my daughter and I diaper time which is usually fun because she loves it had been interrupted by baby wipes! I hate the fact that this happened, but have learned we just can't stand generic scented baby wipes!

Both of my 2 children have extremely sensitive skin! And yes, its from me as well. The best thing I've found for a rash, is balmex becuz it has a "coolin" effect as soon as applied. It also clears the rash quickly and they seem more tolerant of it when I use it. My daughter is only a month old, so of course she doesn't like it anyway. But my 2 year old son, he usually doesn't mind, but when he has a rash, he won't let us near him. I hope this helps.

My daughter had a really bad diaper rash. I put her in a baking soda bath (1/4 cup of baking soda to a tub of water about no more than an inch). I also used petroleum jelly with corn starch powder to form a paste to protect the skin and it worked wonders!! The rash was starting to clear up the same night.

One of the joys of being a mother is going through some of the battles I guess. Good luck.

I have found that Burt's Bees Milk bath does wonders!!!  My son's skin is very sensitive, if we change lotion, diapers, wipes or anything he will get a nasty rash.  I use the Burt's Bees Diaper cream as well.   This might sound strange but I keep Crisco on his butt almost all the time, it works great as a barrier.   Even when the wrong wipes get used on him it tends to protect, the wipes just get the Crisco not the skin.  Don't worry it washes off really easily in the bath.  I have used this on my now 1 year old son since he was 6 months old and he has been almost completely rash free ever since.  I hope this helps!!! Good luck!!!
