Not eatting well

My son is not eatting well. We are living with a friend while our apartment is being finished and he thinks our son is cranky because he is hungry all the time. Logan is always on the go as most toddlers are and he eats in spurts. I notice that he is getting a bit fussy and I give him some Yogart Melts for Gerber or some puffs or apples ect. Tonight he refused to eat anything. When I got anything in his mouth he would then spit it out after a chew or two. I tried the spagetti and meat sauce, dry toast, macaroni and cheese and cherrios only to have them all spit back on me. The only thing he would eat were those yougart melts and then only like 6.

The friend of my Husband makes me feel like a bad mom so I think he is picking up on that.

The friend tried to get him to eat too and had the same results.

Help!

Thanks

Heather

We are going through the same issues and my son is 22 months.  He eats what he wants when he feels like it.  I am VERY frustrated!

Sounds so familiar. My son is 2 and I am used to him having one good meal a day and the others may be null to maybe a few snack bites.

I try not to pressure him. They know what they want and when to stop. I tried to give him a donut the other day- chocolate his favorite. He ate about 1/3 of it and he was satiated.

One thing he is not very good about is proteins. He eats chicken sometimes but not much else. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Kids will eat when they are hungry.. They go throw spurts where they do nothing but eat and eat and eat.. Then, they might want nothing but milk.. Teeth (molars) could be coming in.. Or might be that he is out of his enviroment in another person's home and that is the way he deals with it.. If they eat a little don't worry.. He will eat when he needs it.. I just got my son of the pacifer and all he does now is eat and eat all day long.. We use to go throw 2 gallons of milk a week (all him), and now we are only doing about 1/2 gallon!! And don't worry about what they are eating if they are at least taking vitamins!  That is what the Dr. told me.  And I use to work in pediatrics with that same Dr.  If the child is looking sickly, well then I would take him to the Dr., but other than that it is soooo normal!  I have two kids my oldest is almost 9 yrs old and she did the same thing.. So, don't worry and just relax.. And if someone calls you a bad mom or you feel like you are, well you aren't.. You are doing everything that you can and don't sweat it!!! good luck and hope this helps. lol.. Don't stress about it.

I'm with Suzanne in that it might be the teething.  IF he is drinking too much milk he might be full of it and won;t have appetite for anything else.  16 to 20 onces of milk a day is what a baby over 1 should be drinking.  Try give him the drink after the meal.  But don;t worry if he is picky, most kids are at this age.  I would give him small meals (like every 3 hrs).  Now there are kids that would eat mac and cheese for weeks, and then try something else.  Sometimes they woulkd refuse to eat something and then eat it weeks later.  You just have to try.  IF he likes the ygurt melts, he might like a yogurt shake (whole milk vanilla yogurt, milk, fruit, blend it and serve)  this is my daughter dessert.  She is very picky and every meal is a battle, but at least she will eat just a little bit everytime I made her a meal.

Hope you have better luck
