Question about Baby carriers

I'm in the market for a new carrier for my 8 month old.  I've read a lot of wonderful things about the Ergo Baby.  I was hoping that you could share information on what carrier you use and how it's working for you.  My current carrier is not fitting our needs, as my son is 17 1/2 lbs.  Thanks

I just picked up two new carriers for my son.  One is a fitted sling (mine is by HipMelon) and one is a soft structured carrier (I decided on the Baby Trekker).  I bought both of mine second hand online, and checked out reviews at http://www.thebabywearer.com/

If I were going to buy new, I would probably invest in a Baby Hawk.  I have heard nothing but rave reviews, and they are great for newborns to three year olds.

I have a Snugli Comfort Vent, and an original Heart to Heart sling, but I am not in love with either.

i have a maya wrap (a ring sling), and i love it - and still use it with my 17 mo. old.  i also got a used baby bjorn front carrier from a friend, and i was glad to have that as another option when my baby was younger.

I have 2 different types of Snugli carriers (both were gifts) and Peanut Shell slings.  I love the Peanut shell ones, always have been great to use, and have made my toddler and newborn happy.

The Snugli carriers are OK. I love the slings though-easy to use, no complicated straps or buckles, and they fold so compactly you can stash them in the diaper bag or stroller.

I have 3 differents wraps and a Mei Tai carrier. I LOVE them. I had a Infantino baby carrier when my daugher was first born and my shoulders & neck would be aching within 20 minutes of weraing it.

For my wraps I just went to Wal-Mart & Fabricland and found the right material there. I got enough material for FIVE wraps for under $60. My Mei Tai cost me $40 off of Ebay. If I could afford it, I would love to buy a brand new Babyhawk. I can wear my daughter for hours & hours in the Mei Tais and wraps.

I have a Moby wrap which I absolutely LOVE! So does my son.  There is so many ways to carry a child in the wrap.  We also have an Evenflo trailtech backpack carrier.  Daddy uses this alot on walks around the neighborhood or when we go to an event or festival.  Our little man loves them both and is able to fall asleep in both of them. He is currently 18 months. We will be using the same ones with our newest that is coming in May.

Check out www.mobywrap.com for a list of instructions and demostrations on how to use wraps if you want to get your own material and try it.  I just bought mine off ebay.
