hey ladies
I Need some advice on trying to calm by daughter down while she gets a bath. she screams blood muder and i'm suprised noone has come to see what's wrong with her. i know about all the massaging techniques but she's just soooo resistive. Also she doesn't have a bowl movement regularly i've called the doctor and they told me prune juice it helps but it's still every 2 or 3 days. I've also tried the suppositories once they worked but i hate to have to do it again. |

BATHTIME Andrea both of my girls HATED the baby tub ... I would have to give them a sponge bath every night on a towel until they were old enough to sit up in the bath seats and that just took 2 baths for them to get used to ... but they HATED laying in those baby tubs
GOOD LUCK
as far BM ... prune juice always worked for us ... is she consipated? or just seems to poop ... there is a difference ... if she is struggling and grunting and crying then keep trying to find something that helps .. if not and just seems to not have to poop every day, that could just be her poop routine sorry I could not help with this

I take my baby into the shower with me. I wait until I am done washing then I bring him in with me. I always sing the Rubber Ducky song when he is in the water. This calms him down and makes it seem more fun. My son has had constipation problems from the day he was born. We tried everything we knew of. Then our doctor told us that if babies have uncomfortable BMs they will learn to held it in-making a bad situation worse. Our doctor told us to try mineral oil. At first I refused because it tastes awful and I didn't want to do that to my child. But, he told us we could get it flavored at the pharmacy. They put a lemon flavor in it. We administer it into his mouth through a syringe. He actually likes it! He thinks it tastes good. This works in about 30-45 minutes. Ask your doctor what dose your child would need. Hope this is helpful. |

you can also try some warm water with a little brown suger in it (about an ounce of water and a pinch of suger) My daughter was always having trouble going, I think from the formula. I would also put a little vasilene on her bottom it helped too. It got better once she started eating solid foods. As far as bath time we never had too much of a problem. When she was small I would use a bath sponge in the sink, she didn't seem to mind it. |

I gave my son the prune juice and it didn't help much, but I don't think it hurt either. The doctor also said to to try white grape or pear juice. Once he started on cereal the doctor said to give him barley cereal and that it will help with the bowel movements. We had to give him a suppository every day in order for him to move his bowels. As soon as I inserted the suppository he would push it out and here came the bowel movement. We finally were able to stop this around 6 months. Now he goes about 3-4 times a day!!! Horray! Never thought you would be happy about changing poopy diapers, but you hate to see them in pain. |

My little girl is just over 6 months now and she had the same problem with BM. The doctor told me to use "Stimulation" a Q-tip with just a bit of vasaline on it. You do not have to insert to Q-tip...I know that is is terrible to say but...just annoy them enough to push. Doc also said that part of the problem was that she did not know how to help herself...HE WAS RIGHT...she started going on her own at about 4 months. It only took about a week to catch on! As far as the bath...sometimes it is something as silly as the temp of the water...what we think is right for them may not be what they like. Try it both ways... a little cooler and a little warmer. See if that helps.
GOOD LUCK |

My son is five months old now and does a BM every 3-5 days which the doc. said is fine. He is also breastfed which I think causes less BMs because he digests the breastmilk better than formula. So far, what i have read and what I have been told is that BMs start to slow down at 3 months. But I don't know how old your daughter is.
He always gets very gassy and colicy the night before a BM. That's how I can tell he'll be having one. Gripe water has helped him alot. It has ginger and fennel that help with going to the bathroom and releasing gas which helps him fall asleep better. here's the web site of the one I use. babysbliss.com Hope this helps. |

My daughter had constipation problems when she was younger. I don't know how old your daughter is, but we started my daughter on 4 oz. of half juice (white grape) and half water once a day when she was about 3 months old to regulate her. Also, we would put 1 tsp of Dark Karo Syrup in one of her bottles every day. |
