Hi everyone!
I recently found out about a fundraiser done by the St. Baldricks Foundation. Basically what happens is that people sign up to be "Shavees", and the shavees try to get donations from friends or family who want to see them shave their head. Kind of a "how much would you pay to see me shave my head?" type of thing. And all of the proceeds go to fund research to help cure childhood cancer. So shaving your head is actually two fold, first it is to raise money by having people pay you to do something silly, and secondly it creates solidarity with children who have lost their hair going through chemo.
I have chosen to become a shavee this year, but my family is not all that happy about me shaving my head. So many of them don't want to donate, and the ones that think it is just funny don't have the money to donate. I am hoping that by posting this on craigslist, I will find a few good hearted people who would be willing to donate... even $5 would help. My goal is to raise $500, and I only have until March 14th. You can recheck my page on the evening of the 14th, and I will have my after picture posted. You can donate online using a debit or credit card. Or print out a form and mail in a check. If you don't want to print out the form, send me an email and I can give you my address and you can mail the check to me. Just make sure you make it out to The St. Baldricks Foundation, and put my name and shavee #, which can be found right under my name, on the check. This is a great cause and I want to have some money to give them when I go to get my head shaved!
