I will start off by saying each child is different and potty trains at different times. There are lots of different methods for potty training. Kelly, at your daughters age, she could be ready to potty train. Sometimes though, even at that age they are not ready. Make sure she has an interest first, then make sure it is fun. Don't force her to do it because that is likely to have the opposite effect you want. I would suggest not using pull ups. They are very similar to diapers and a lot of kids have trouble noticing the difference. DO a search online for potty training methods and just go through trial and error until you find something that works.
Anne, those same things could help you, but at 22 months it is likely that your daughter is just not ready. Although my son was completely trained at 20 months, from what I have heard, normally kids are ready around 2.5-3 years. I would suggest just waiting until your daughter shows a real interest.
One tip I can give you is something I did with my son. We let him run around with no pants on for the first couple of days. He did have a few accidents but would let us know right away and would run for his potty and finish there.
In the end, it is all about trial and error and finding what works for you. Good luck to you both though. |
