Raising Indigo Children
Public online group

My boys definitely are, hubby and I think we are too
The concept of the Indigo is fairly new to me, but the more I learn, the more I realize that it is important information I desperately need to pursue for my whole family's sake. Every one of us is markedly different from most adults we meet, and those adults seem not to know what to do with our children.

We live in a rather remote area, and there is a lack of diversity here. Our economic situation is preventing us from exploring the more diverse availabilities of Jacksonville, the nearest metropolitan region to where we live. So I turn to the internet.

I'm hoping to connect with other people who are enlightened about the "new" type of child so that I can exchange information about better ways of presenting learning, and the world, to our boys.

My older son JT, a first grader, is beginning to have difficulty functioning in public school already, and I am totally convinced that the school system will fail him utterly if I don't find a new option and find it quickly.

Most of the homeschoolers in my area are homeschooling because of their religions. I am not at all religious, following a spirituality that honors many founders of religions, but does not follow the current worshiping practices of their resulting religions.

I look forward to getting to know this group!

Hi CraftyFibroMom -

How are you and your family doing? How is JT doing in school? I ended up taking my son out of public school in 6th & 7th grades and homeschooling him through the Arizona Virtual Academy.  It is a non-religious based program that provides a computer, internet service and educational materials plus a teacher to call anytime you have a problem - at no cost.  I don't know if they have one in Florida but it would certainly be worth checking into.

My son is now 16 and is doing well in a military based educational program. He has been off meds since the end of 4th grade and it was because I refused to continue medicating him that I ran into difficulties with the public school system.  I went back to school to learn about natural treatment options.  The result is 2 books - Recognizing the Greatness in Each Child - which provides both parents and children and opportunity to identify their individual learning style. Knowing how you and your children learn enables you to provide much needed assistance when your children become overwhelmed with school work.  The 2nd book - Plants vs Pills - provides herbal options for the treatment of childhood diagnosed mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.  Both books are available at amazon.com.

Blessings,
Mary Ernsberger, HHP
