I haven't logged on here in a while and I really need a confessional cleansing. My confession for today is all about bribery. I work at our local YMCA a few hours a week. My hubby is out of town for two weeks and that means my kids are going to work with me. Last night I told my oldest he could eat M&Ms for dinner if he was good the whole 3 1/2 hours that I had to be a work. He was very well behaved and there is no forgetting in my 3 year old....so last night he ate M&Ms for dinner. Of course he was still hungry so he finished dinner with a pop tart for dessert. I am giving myself a huge pat on the back for instilling such healthy eating habits in my children...yay me.
Hey we all have to do it at one point or another, bribing is part of parenting. The older ones work for computer time here. And that means entertaining their little sister (the boys are 13 she is 16 months) so they suck it up and do it so I let them play longer.
I agree Kristhal that bribing is part of parenting. I bribe my three year old all the time. For example, I tell him to clean up his room and than he could watch a show or play on the computer just before bedtime. He is only allowed to watch a show that is half an hour long or play a game that is also for half an hour. I also bribe him on other things, but that would take too much room on this page. Of course, I do it in moderation, but there were times that I did overdue it.
