right now they're too young (1 and 2.5) but I don't plan on it when they're older. We're a family and our house is a family responsibility. I believe that if they're wanting to do something extra they can do extra stuff (vac. the car, etc.) to earn money but dishes are a part of living as is keeping the house clean. I hope to teach them respect for things and those around them while teaching them to care for a house.

I beleive that a family that works together, stays together. Even when our children were small,(we have 4) we didn't pay them for chores. That is want families do, all help with the chores. Even now, having 2 left at home (16,17) they have to do their chores every week. Its their home too and the part of responsiblity is helping around the house. We are a family, thats what families do. Plus seeing our two older children have their own place, its always spotless when we are there. We taught them something

My daughter is 14. I only give her money for chores, not just when she asks. That way if she wants something, she has to work for it and save her money.

although my son is only four at this point he loves helping mommy around the house, he actually pushes me to do the dishes or laundry, my son has actually cleaned out the dish washer and loaded it back up all by himself. of course i have to go behind him and correctly place the dishes but he enjoys helping around the house
