My doctors made me come in early to be induced in the hospital for both of my children, I would have prefered to go into labor naturaly and have them both at home, since I didn't have meds I don't think that having them in the hospital helped any. It would have only been needed if there was a emergency, but there was none for me so I believe that I could have had them at home.

I was induced and was happy to be no surprise water breaking.. I had the epidural @ when I dilated almost @ 9 cm and happy I did so now I don't mind having another I don't think you have to go through the pain to understand what giving birth is all about.

I put "other" since I've had one at the hospital with a midwife, one at home unassisted (my husband caught and we had a midwife-type person in the other room just in case), one at the hospital with an OB, and we are planning on another unassisted birth this time. I'm not sure where we will actually have this one though, probably at a friend's house, since we live with my MIL and she has forbidden another homebirth since she doesn't think they are safe, even though of the births I've had, the one that went the best (by FAR) was the homebirth!

I had my boys at two differant hospitals. They were completely differant experiences both had good and bad things about them. Probably the most important was the epidural for me. I can handle pain and all but with as much pain as labor causes I hypervenalate and with my second son I almost passed out because when I started to have him the epidural had worn off and and we weren't expecting him to be almost 10 lbs. If I ever have any more kids I would want to try at a birthing center.

BTW Indigo your husband is a brave man! Mine wouldn't even cut the cord ;)

had my daughter at the hospital and was 8 cm dialiated and fully efaced when i checked in. The dr broke my water but the rest was natural, no drugs - the thought of how they are put in scares me more than not having any. Hoping to do the same thing with this one.
