Try as I might, not one of my three boys was potty trained by 2 years. None of my boys were ready until closer to 3. |

I have three boys myself. My first was potty trained between 3 and 4 years. My second is 2 1/2 and is almost all the way there.
The Baby Signs Program has a new Potty Training Program out with some great research and tools to help potty train before the age of two. Up until the 1950's children were potty trained between 12 - 18 months, today it's closer to 3-4 years!
By bringing the power of signing to the task of potty training, the
Baby Signs® Potty Training Program makes it possible – and easy –
for parents to complete potty training before their child’s 2nd
birthday. By using five simple potty-time signs, babies can reach
communication readiness well before they learn to talk.
One point mentioned in this new program is that it's easier to potty train before your child reaches that "terrible two's " stage where they say no to any idea that is yours and not theirs :)
I've read the testimonials and talked to parents in forums that used the program as part of the testing before it came out, they all have great things to say about it.
I have a Potty Party on March 18th to introduce the program to the public and I will be starting my 14 month old on the Program then. I'm excited to find out if it really works! I've got high hopes because signing has been such a beneficial part of my children's lives. |

My son's doctor told me to not even start him until he is at least 3. So only 4 more months til we can start. We are not doing pullups or diapers (except for at naptime and night) and any other time he will be in regular underwear. So I will have alot of laundry to do. So please wish me luck. |

I completely agree with no diapers or pull-ups except naptime and nighttime, otherwise they just think they can pee in their diaper. Try throwing a potty party for him when you start. Just google "potty party" and you'll get a lot of great ideas.

My first son was fully pt'd by 26 months (night time too). My daughter was day pt'd by 2 1/2 and night right before turning 3. Now Im working on the twins, who are 2yr7mo, and not even day trained, but we are working on it. |

I have two boys. They were potty trained around 2 years old. My Mom taught me a neat trick with potty training boys... cheerios! LOL We kept a small tupperware bowl under the sink in the bathroom filled with cheerios. The boys would take 4 of them out of the container when they had to use the toilet and were allowed to throw the 4 cheerios into the toilet bowl. Then, when they would pee, they would aim for the cheerios. I found that getting them involved (getting the cheerios out and throwing them into the toilet) and making a game of it (aiming which teaches good habits and less clean up for Mommy) made it SO much easier to train them. Thank GOD for my Mother... Grandmothers know so much! Listen to your Mothers when they tell you these little tricks. :) |
