Most kids get over medicated. I am an ER nurse so thankfully I know that not all fevers need immediate medication. Some run very low and run their course and never get high enough for medication. Most people are unaware of that. I keep a close eye on my child and the temp and if needed I will give medicine and remove clothing. I will not hesistate to call her Dr. if I have any questions. When it's your own kid it's alot different then being at work.

I watch my son closely, but EVERYTIME he has ran a fever it is always something serious! He never runs a fever with it being minor. Ever fever has put him in the hospital so we do all the above basically.

my daughter usally gets one when she is teething so if she hasn't sleeped well in a couple of nights we give her tylonal to relieve the pain and the fever then she sleeps good and is fine.

Monitor. If my daughter has a fever and is miserable, i will give her tylenol. If she has a fever and is playing/sleeping well, why give it.
