Bush had experience has governor and look where he led this country!!! Even McCain would not mention him in his campaign but then he chose Palin and there we have a combination of no experience and DEEP lack of knowledge on everything (even a child would know what is Africa!). Sorry but by choosing Palin, Mc Cain reveal poor judgment and this was the last nail in the coffin.
Obama is smart and he will pick the right advisors. He actually understand issue and has analytical/critical analysis.
Obama is a phenomena not just a president. Did you watch his first press conference today! How refreshing someone who actually can make complete sentence without feeling proud of himself for doing so (no smirk!).

Everyone seems to think Obama will get the country out of the rut we are in financially....
What people don't realize is that the Democratic Party's actions (under the Clinton administration) is what got us here in the first place! If Obama plans on following Clinton's footsteps as President, we are in big trouble... |

"FristTimeMommy" is so correct!!!! That is exactly the truth! People don't understand that the decorates were in charge of both the cabinets, so how could Bush do anything? And I live in Illinois. Obama has been in charge of this state as senator. And guess what ILL. has the highest divorce rate, the most unemployment, the worst housing market and the worst educational programs out of all 50 states. Congratulation America!!! You just chose to have that same man, that can't even keep one state together, run the whole country and put him in the position of "most powerful man in the world" Great Job!

| I think a lot of us who voted for McCain are aware that Obama is an intellegent man. (As for putting a complete sentence together... charisma doesn't make him a great president, it makes him an eloquent speaker.) But there are only a few issues that really truly matter to me. I, as a Christian, am bound to certain moral codes that he just doesn't support. And most importantly, it makes me tremble to think of him legalizing abortion. I honestly thought that would have at least crossed the mind of other moms. |

| Julie's comment was interesting to me. Does anyone else seem to think that Obama is somehow in with the terrorists/Muslims. I believe that this is just another piece of the puzzle that is leading to "end of times." The bible says that the antichrist will be in a powerful position and will win many with his words.... sounds a little to familiar to the election to me. I just pray that we are all ready for whatever happens and that God will keep our country in his hands and protect us. |

| I am a conservative but I am happy about our new President. I believe he will be a President to all of us, regardless of skin color, ideology or social status. I am a Christian too, like Obama and John McCain. I would never advise abortion but I recognize that Roe vs Wade gives that right to others. I think the last 8 years have shown us we need change, and now we have a decent honest family man that will look for social progress and the middle class. I hope the Republican party rebuilds itself into a party of value but not bigotry, fiscal conservatism but not wall street excess, american values but not warmongering. When that happens I will once again proudly vote Republican but until then, we have one President and I will give him the benefit of the doubt. |

| I don't know why so many people want to continue the hate speech from the campaign. Obama was elected. By a large majority. Does anyone REALLY think he would do a worse job than Bush, the US President with the worse approval rate EVER? No of course not, so even if you like McCain better, now is time to get on with the program, stop all that non-sense about anti-christ, terrorist, marxist, baby killer... please... We're all in this toegther. |

| But do you notice that on the whole, EVERY President has a low approval rating by the time that they leave the white house? People get sick of whoever is in the white house and they want change, no matter if it is a conservative or liberal president. As far as the whole terrorist issue, it is hooey. Just because he has a middle eastern sounding name doesn't mean he is going to be in cahoots with the terrorists, or that he is the next Antichrist. Those issues have just been drummed up by the media and those that want to strike fear in people without any basis. |

I second the comments of Libby and Anita. The media has reported things like, "Afghans Rejoice in Obama's Victory". Why would they be so happy to have him as the president of our nation? He is going to help them push THEIR agendas and as Anita talked about, this is yet another sign of the perilous times before the "end of the world". That's what I think.
Obama is a slick man, a snake, and I have never felt comfortable with him. He is a very eloquent speaker and has won over the hearts of many, simply because he is "educated" (unlike Bush, they would say). I'm not a fan of McCain, either, but for me, it was about voting for the lesser of two evils, and in my opinion, that's what McCain was. |

| Caryn, if you want to be accurate, it's not *just* Afghans that are rejoicing, it's pretty much every country on the planet. And they are rejoicing because they feel that their countries and their lives have been hurst by Bush/Cheney policies, and warmongering, and they have hopes Obama will have a different foreign policy and their lives will be better. That is not hard to understand.... America is the biggest military power, the biggest economy, the US President affects the lives of every soul of this plane, not just the US. For many many people, Obama's election is not a sign a "end of the world", "perilous times", "anti-christ", it's a sign of hope that the bad policies of the Bush areas are finally over and the US will once again be a shining beacon to the world... |

I have to say that some of the comments made by people on this poll are RIDICULOUS! What does the color of Obama's skin have to do with anything? Let's stop for a minute and stop being so racist, ignorant, and judgemental. Oh, and BTW, abortion IS legal here in the US. It's the woman's right to chose. Period. That's not going to change.
To answer the question - YES - I'm thrilled about barack Obama being our next president. Y'all should be too. |

| I don't understand how so many of you on here can be so naive! Obama was raised going to an Islamic school in Indonesia. According to his own words from his book, he went to Islamic schools until he was around 5 years old. He stated that the area he was in was the medium for Islamic extremist, but he didn't feel like it was that much of an influence over the area. (LIE) I have my degree in psychology and one of the things we studied was peoples decision making possesses. 85% of all of the decisions, choices, likes, dislikes, and how you will react to a situation is already formed by age 5. So in other words, the values or lake there of, that are thought to you during 0-5 years old, is the basis (85%) for how you will react for the rest of your life. Now, I know and believe that not all people who are Islamic are extremist! That would be racist and that is not the issue here, the issue is his past is sketchy, he was raised in the extremist environment, he has NO experience and frankly he gives me the creeps! Like I stated before, look at the history! He could not even run the state of Illinois, how is he going to run the country?! |

Julie, I can understand you are disapointed your candidate did not win, but you know, the election is over and Obama will be our president for 4 years, and through the biggest financial crisis of our times. Now is time to burry the hatchet and support him, just like Palin and McCain have said.
Also, I think if going to an islam-friendly pre-school makes him *like* Muslims all the while being Christian, that is a great thing. We need to stop demonizing Muslims and I like that we have a President who does not think that different is evil. Also, he was never in charge of running Illinois, not more than McCain was in charge of running Arizona. That's the job of Governors. However, Obama was in charge of running a campaign with tens of thousands of staffers and volunteers, hundreds of millions of dollars and did a pretty good job at it. If he does half as well with fixing our economy, we are in good shape.... |

| It is interesting to see how divided we become over something at simple as a poll. Whether or not you like the next president is immaterial, he is the next president and deserves your support when needed and criticism when called for. The great thing about America is that we have the right to vote, now just because who you voted for did not win, is no reason to begin stating that he is the "anti-christ" or is in league with the Islamic terrorist. In this difficult time that we are facing we need to put aside differences and unite the United States. In conclusion dont put the cart before the horse. Dont judge someone as the president when they have yet to become the president. |

| I was for Mc Cain until I went to Obamas Rally and he seemed like a very nice man and he is very considerate of other people several people passed out from the heat at the rally most were while waiting for it to start but one was whille he was speeking and he rushed his water to the person who passed out I thought it was verry sweet. I just looked up the unemployment rates and Michigan rates the highest with Rhode Island 2nd Illinois rates 12th and Wyoming the lowest. It is a beautiful state maybe we should all move there. LOL. |

The man has been in office less then 2 months. Skeptics of Obama want a fast fix, they are asking for a miracle to happen. I wonder if any body can fix the mess that Bush had left the country in, with a 2 month time limit. Let me let you into a little secret, there’s only one way to fix debt, it is to clean the slate. “You don’t owe me and I don’t owe you.” Greed is what got this country and the world in the trouble that it is in and no one man is going to fix it. I think that most people that don’t care for Obama are more hung-up on the fact that his skin is of a darker persuasion and are not willing to give the man a chance because of the fact. Guess What! His mother is a White American Woman and his father is African. He’s a “Blite”, how can Obama be for one and not for all. He has a little of all of us in him. I think that Obama is a President For Everybody. Give the man a chance.
Republican are a selfish rich people that want to make this country a Socialist Society. Rich people with rich people and the poor people with poor people. Like Obama said spread the wealth around. How can Obama do any worst then Bush had done within the last 8 years. The country had come together because of 911 and trusted one of the biggest liars ever. Bush is and will always be about oil. What’s was really crazy about Bush, the people of the US voted him back into office again after he did nothing for the country within the first 4 years he served as president. If Obama turns out to be another Bush, don’t vote him back into office after his 4 years are up.
To “FristTimeMommy” when Clinton left office the country had trillion of dollars in surplus revenue. The Democratic party/Obama did not put this country in a recession with the country being trillions of dollars in debt, it was Bush.
To “D” As I had said to FristTimeMommy”, ditto to you. As for Illinois, sorry some body has to come in last. All over the country people are losing their jobs and home. People are living in there cars, building shelters out of cardboard, sleeping on the open streets. If you don’t believe me, come to Downtown San Diego, California for vacation. Around million dollar condos and empty building, people are sleeping on the streets. No doubt, we are living in the last days. “Left Behind” is a movie made by a man. I am quite sure that a man had cast the movie, not a supreme being. Obama has his own marriage to tend to, and I’m quite sure that if a married couple decides to divorce, it was not because of Obama running Illinois. What about the Mayors, Governor, and the Congress of Illinois, did they have any thing to do with the state of Illinois being? Listen to Alisa “D”.
Everybody has a right to their own opinion, throwing into a sentence “I’m a Christian” don’t make your opinion right. The devil goes to church too. The right to choose is legal in the US, I personally don’t believe in abortion but I not the one that will be judging those how take unborn live in the end. The Anti-Christ, the Bible said that it would be born from a Jackal, and be for Catholic faith. Obama was born from a woman and not Catholic. Stop quoting from the bible if you had not read it.
All those who believe that Obama is a terrorist, if his name was Bill Smith would you fill the same? Obama did not name himself, blame that on his parents.

for those that seemed to feel so strongly about Obama getting us out of this horrible situation when they posted back in Nov. '08... I'm wondering how you feel about Obama's great plan to save this country now. Seems to me, things are only getting WORSE and you can't blame that on Bush... so where will you point the finger this time?
I could never vote for a man that could stand infront of his country and say that if one of his daughters 'made a mistake' he wouldn't deny her getting an abortion- how on earth could someone call their own grandchild nothing more than a mistake. It's not a choice- it's a life. I'd rather vote for anyone else in hopes that my vote would be one less counting for Obama. |

| I think that no matter how ready or not the world is to see a black president the time is here.... and it was way over due. The amount of experience is irrelevant to the fact at hand and political parties have nothing to do with it. Clinton did not start the war, nor did he bring the financial turmoil the world suffers from now onto the world. It was both of the bush administrations doing, but nobody wants to admit that because it was so easy to love the one who was for the money instead of looking at the pain and hardship he was inflicting on this country. Obama for mankind is what I say and no matter what anyone else believes... it was time for a change and some should be thanking god that we got so lucky as to have such a wonderful man in power because he has chosen to take on a big mess which the father and son duo have created for the country. |

| Also when Obama came into office he had his work cut out for him. How can you expect one person to fix 8 years of destruction in 1 year? You cannot judge him till you become the president. We also have troops coming home people and more people are able to get medical insurance. The truth is you can judge him and say what you'd like but its not just Obama... we have governors to look at senators who want to pocket a vast amount of money for themselves...idk things would have been better if the Indians were left alone.. but that didn't happen so raise your kids up the best you can and maybe one day they can become president either way people are going to have a problem with whom ever resides in power.. its just the way of the world. |
