our son is just now, at 22 months, starting very slowly to put together 2 words. he said "all done" the other day, but nothing since, and I was curious as to when other children started to do this...pls. explain if your child is a boy or a girl - I've read that boys are sometimes behind girls verbally. |

True about the Girls vs Boys thing. Work on "go get" with him. It seemed to be an easy one for us! Read the advice I have posted in my profile about Eli Manning! |

My daughter started putting 2 words together when she was almost 10mos. She was a very early talker (never stopped, and now worse as a teen!!!!) but she was a late walker. Didn't walk until she was 14 mos. Most of the little ones I knew back then were walking between 10-12 mos. |

"All Done" is one of the words I taught my son to sign to. He started saying the phrase at about 14 months. He is soon to be 21 months and now he's a parrot. LOL |

My son started saying words at 11months, 2 words around 13-14 months, and started talking mostly in complete sentences at 23 months, his speech wasn't incredibly clear though, but it is getting better now (25 months). I started him in a Moms Day Out 8 hours a week at church at 16 months, and that really got him talking because there were several 2-2.5 year olds he was playing with. |

The first time my daughter put 2 words together she was about 9months old and she said "bye papa" although it came out more "by bubua". She has signed all done since she was 10 1/2 months old. She is now at 15 1/2 months starting to put words together sort of. Her favorite word is yesss and ya. |

Boys do progress slower than girls in terms of speech and probably socially too. My son was a late talker too compared to other kids in our family. I wasn't worried about it at all. I knew he'd get there eventually. As long as he understood everything that I was saying to him and responded to me in whatever way he knew, I knew there wasn't a problem. He's 3 yrs now and talks perfectly. He comes to me with new phrases everyday and I'm amazed at the rate at which his speech has improved and so is everyone else that was concerned about him. Development is a very personal thing and although it's good to compare developmental milestones, it should only be a gauge and not something to achieve. |

My daughter is 21 mo old and 3 days ago she got my grandma's photo book that they always look through together and she got it as soon as she walked into grandma's house flipped to a picture walked over to my grandma grabbed her hand walked her over to the photo album and pointed at her favorite picture looked up at my grandma and said this it. We were shocked and happy. We had been wondering when she would start putting words together. |
