We are very close to both our parents. Mine are able to stop by whenever, they only live 10 minutes away. My husbands parents however live a little over an hour away so we go visit them weekly.

It is unfortunate that my in-laws live so far away (at least a 15 hour car trip) because they are both retired and my parents (who live the next neighborhood over) still work. It would be nice to have someone in the immediate family that could watch my son during the day, instead of just on the weekends every once in a while. My in-laws do try to visit though every few months, which is nice.

What is real sad is that we live a mile down the road from them and they see my sister-in-laws kids more than mine. It is a sore subject with me and my husband.

When we lived in the same town we saw my mom at least twice a week and my in laws once a week if we went over to their house. We moved when my daughter was 3 monthes old and we went home at least once a month but you cant always see everybody in 2-3 day trips. Now we live even farther away and we havent seen any of them in a couple of months, at least this move isn't permanent we will see every one by Christmas(keeping our fingers crossed).

We see my parent's in law once per month. I thought it will be different once Sophia was born, but they did not get involved. She has shop and dog that are her priorities. What we can do?
I had an argument with her about this, but she has plenty of excuses and gets that we don't support that she works and bla bla bla.. She wishes she can spend more time with her and her wish is that Sophia will play at her shop one day. Can you believe her? She is loosing all this time to share right now.
Well it is up to them. Nothing that I can do. |

My in laws live next door to us and our sons life wouldnt be the same if not. he sees them several times a week, either they pop in or he goes over there and he loves it.... I believe it has made them so much closer. my dad is a snow bird so he is only here 6 months out the year but when he is he takes my son for 3-4 days at a time, and while I miss him while he is away, it gives me a break to do all the things i cant get done in a day with him and work, and it also gives them a special bonding time. I love the fact that both grandparents want to be such huge impacts in his life, i didnt have that growing up and am so happy he does.

My mom lives with us...she is a recovering breast cancer patient but is doing great. My dad lives about 5 min from me and comes over once in awhile for 5 min. To say hi to the kids...If I need him to take me to the hossy or a Dr ap cause the kids are sick he will. My inlaws well they aren't as involved as they us to be. They rarely call anymore, I would have to call them to see if they want to see the kids. My husband would like them to be more involved.

my parents comes to see the kids all the time, and when they are not coming to see them they are face timing with my kids. But in a couple of months we will be living next to my parents, I can't wait. My boyfriend's mom complains about not seeing the grand kids but then she never calls or comes to see the kids and his dad works out of the country and only comes home a couple times a year. He will meet are son for the first time at the end of this month

When we lived close my in-laws saw him every day sometimes several times a day or they would keep him for a couple of days. My parents saw him maybe once a week or so. It has more to do with scheduling though since his parents are older and his siblings aren't as active where as my parents and siblings are constantly on the go. My one brother is active military with the army stationed in New York he hasn't seen my son in almost a year so hopefully this summer they will get to see eachother.
