We have both cats and a dog. When we first found out that we were pregnant people told us we would have to find homes for our pets, they said it would cause allergies in our son. What I actually discovered is the opposite of that. Having animals around actually helps children not develop allergies to them later.

i think allergies are weird things. some kids outgrow them, some don't, and i guess some never have them. of my three children, the oldest one has seemingly outgrown his allergy to animals, but my daughter, who is almost 5, can be around dogs/cats for about 10-15 minutes, at which time she is covered in hives and her face starts to swell up. i don't know what we'd do without chewable and liquid antihistamines!!

I think having an animal in our house with the baby would just be another headache. I am an animal lover but I prefer to love the animals outside of my home. I am not a big fan of pet hair and such.

We have 2 dogs and 1 cat. My son has no allergies to them and just adores playing with our shepard/chow mix. I was nervous about a big dog with such a lil person but she has adapted well and they are so cute together. I also wanted him to have respect for animals.

I have 3 dogs and my daughter loves them. One's daddys one's mommys and one's her's and she loves to cuddle with him and every morning when she gets up they get so excited to see her. It does make it harder though its almost like having 3 more kids running around. I wouldnt have it any other way though.

We had a dog and a cat but we decided to give them to people who would take good care of them when we moved. We would like to have pets when are done moving around so much. I never had any growing up and I would like my duaghter to have one to grow up with. I would like whatever pet we choose to be an out side animail cause it is a lot of work trying to keep up with the hair on top of normal house cleaning.

We have a dog, his name is Toby and he is almost 3yrs. My husband thought that getting me a dog would delay the part of me that wanted a baby and it did for about a year then we started trying and now we have a wonderful almost 6month old. My mom grew up with cats and never had a problem with any sort of allergies but now(ever since I can remember) shes been allergic to cats, dogs don't bother her at all, in fact we had a dog if not dogs my entire life...I think it just depends on the person

We have two cats and after we brought our twin sons home I am sorry to say, I wish we never had the cats. They tried to sleep in the playpens with the boys, got nervous from the crying, cleaned themselves non-stop and puked everywhere. It was a nightmare. The twins are four months now, and it's getting better, but the poor cats are not as spoiled as they once were.

My daughter loves animals but we had to get rid of our cat because he wasnt behaving around the baby and i wasnt willing to risk him peeing on her things or him hurting her. I mean he used to attack me when I was crying I would have killed him if he attacked her lol

2 cats one part time dog. It is important for kids if you have the oppertunity for them to grow up with animals, it also gives them a sense of responsibility and compassion and is good for allergies.

I have a dog and a cat. Our dog is already protective of the baby always laying near her and standing on guard when she hears someone coming. The cat on the other hand really couldn't care less about the baby

I have 2 cats that my 8 month son loves. They pretty much ignore him and try to stay out of his way. I think it is so stupid people get rid of loved pets just because they are pregnant. If you could just get rid of a pet like that you don't deserve to ever have one.
