I'm very thankful for the experience I had in giving birth to our son. We were fortunate enough to have a wonderful midwife and we were able to birth in the comfort of our home. I was able to do what I needed when I needed to.

I am thankful that my twins were born this decade. At 35 weeks, Ben was perfectly fine, but Amelia was unable to breathe on her own. My great grandmother had twins who neither of which survived. my great grandmother was 98 when she died in a house fire, 2 months before my twins were born. Thankfully, the doctors took Amelia immediately to the breathing machine. It was the hardest 2 weeks, but it was only 2 weeks. Then she came home and is a normal, beautiful girl.

I had a scheduled c-section, however not by my choice- my little boy decided to stay in the "but first" position (breached) and did not budge. I got to pick the date I wanted my son to be born which was kinda cool. As for the surgery, I was up and walking (very slowly) the same day, my insision healed very quicky, and unlike some mothers, I did not feel cheated out of experiencing a "real" delivery, all I ever cared about was having a healthy baby, didn't matter how he came out :)

we had a fabulous doula--an important investment in my estimation.
we worked with a group of capable and savvy midwives.
we had a 3 1/2 hour labor and delivery without medical intervention in a hospital. it couldn't have gone much better.

I had a horrible childbirth experience. I was dilated at 10 cm for two hours before I started to push and after a hour and a half of pushing the doctor decided that he was not dropping into position, so they told me that I was going to have a c-section.

I had an epidural. I didnt like the way the nurses would tell me what position to lay in during labor. They would tell me to lay on my side and another way was more comfortable. Next time i am going all natural so i can get up and walk.

I should have had a c-section due to the size of my son, but I had him naturally. I tore and they cut me badly. It took me months to heal! I lost just as much blood as if I had had a c-section. Plus, I was in the hospital for over a week recovering. I am planning on having a c-section with the next child to avoid all the pain and suffering that went along with the first one.

I had 3 wonderful, 100% drug free births. All sooo amazing!! 1st one was with a doula and took a little more than 5 hours, 2nd one was an hour long and the 3rd was about 6 hours. All 3 boys were out in less than 5 pushes. Loved every minute of them!

Depends on which child you are talking about. My first and third children (hospital births), I was not at all happy with and have issues I need to work through still with the third. My second child was a homebirth and was absolutely wonderful!

I was at 38weeks and my water decided to break, got to the hospital a 2 hours later and I was only at 2cm but I really didn't want to have a c-section but I had to have one because the cord was around his neck and instead of risk anything happening to him I told them to go ahead and cut me open...and he was just perfect, but I still have lots of pain in my scar

The entire process - from the very first contraction to the birth of my son - lasted about 4 hrs... Pretty good for a first time mom. They inserted an epidural only to discover I was already a 10 (they wouldn't listen to me when I told them I felt like I had to push) so I never received any drugs. I will go all-natural next time now that I know I can do it... They had to use the vaccuum and I think that was most painful part since they had to remove it and insert another one (the gage was broken on the first one).

Nine years ago, I gave birth to our son in the hospital. Although my choice was a natural, drugless birth I found myself tense, questioned of our natural choices and refusal of him going to the nursery or immunizations. Fast forward 2007 & the birth of our daughter at home with our family & midwife was AMAZING! No questioning our choices to immediately breastfeed, delayed separation from the cord, water laboring and the beauty of delivering in my position of choice. I give thanks for experiencing both sides of the birthing coin and two healthy, balanced Indigo children!!

I unfortunately had a HORRIBLE birthing experience. My son was 6 1/2 weeks premature but was a healthy 6lbs 14 oz. I went in to labor at 21 wks but thank goodness they were able to stop it. I was put on complete bed rest but I kept going in into labor about every 2 wks and would end up in the hospital. After a c-section (I also had placenta previa) he was placed in the NICU and they kept trying to push bottle feeding on me and even did it without my consent which I caught almost at the end of the bottle. One nurse basically "threw" my son at me (he was still attached to monitors at the time) to answer her cell phone which rang as I had come in to nurse him. I definitely would not reccommend Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY to give birth to your child.

I was induced, because I was hypertensive so my doc. started the patocin and rocked the epidural the entire time. I can honestly say that everyone should do it that way. I sat up with my sister and husband and played UNO until things started to really happen. I went from 3 centimeters to fully in 3 hours and didn't feel a thing. If you would take a tylenol for a head ache, why wouldn't you get something for something as painful as child birth?

For my first it was natural but they gave me medicine to help with the pain and it put me to sleep, with a head for a surprise the nurse had not checked on me for 4 hours, and the second birth we decided to have the epi. and the nurse made it so intense it numb my whole body.

My birthing experience was kind of on the fence, lasted 17 1/2 hours. It was long and the final half hour was the most intense. The hospital doesn't have a strict limit on the number of people allowed in the delivery room. They say 2 at the most, allowed my mother, the father, my sister and her boyfriend in....I only wanted my son's father there. By the time I could have made that known it was too late and Liam started crowning. If I could do it again I would put my foot down early and make everyone get the H*LL out!!!

For the most part, YES. Water broke spontaneously and then 3 hrs later I was a mommy!
I do wish the hospital had not kept her in the nursery so much right after she was born (she had no problems). We didn't really know why she was gone so long from our room.

I had 2 c-sections and tried so hard with my first to have the baby completely natural but I was induced at 42 weeks and she had her cord wrapped around her neck. My second was a repeat b/c the hospital didn't allow VBACs and my third will also be a section! I would do anything to have a vaginal if I can go back in time... if my DD's cord wasn't wrapped around her neck!

I had vaginal births for both my children and each were very easy. With my daughter, I had gotten an epidural and was able to sleep half the night before the doc came in and said "Ok, time to push". 24 Minutes later she was born. With my son, the doctor wasn't even ready. He wanted me to do a practice push and I told him that wasn't a good idea. He didn't believe me and my husband and I ended up laughing at him and the nurse as they rushed around trying to get ready to catch my son since I pushed and he was right there. I ended up with 4 stitches with my daughter and nothing with my son. Both my children were 6 lbs 14 oz and 21 inches long. Both were are now very healthy children and after each delivery I was up and rearin' to go do something. The nurses thought I was nuts. lol

I had a HORRIBLE experience. I was induced 5 weeks earily due to me having toxemia.
I was at a check up for blood pressure and my doc to me to head on over to the hospital. I was admited at 5pm on tuesday(7-11-06). They gave me Magnesium solfate(sp?)-it completely relaxes your mussels where you can NOT walk or anything- which immediatly made me vomit(which didnt stop till they took me off of it on thursday). To counteract the nausea they gave me phenigan(sp??) and they gave me cervidil(i believe that was it) to help my cervix thin out. I was 2 almost 3 when i went in the hospital.
At 8am wednesday they started the poticin drip. I stayed at 3 until @ 6 that night at which i was begging and crying for some pain relief. They had to pump 2 bags of sugar water in me before i could get the epi. Well when i was getting it my blood pressure dropped to a very dangerous low. I started passing out...and slowed my breathing. (my hubby almost passed out by seeing the needle-that didnt help at all!)
Once i got stable, and the meds kicked in i was a totally happy person. I was actually able to sit up in my bed and talk to everyone.
BTW- i was literally passed out from all the meds given to me during the day-i do NOT remember my doc visiting me and breaking my water!
At 9pm i started pushing. 5 pushes and 26 mins later our beautiful daughter Kali Brianna arrived! (i did have to be cut which didnt totally heal for a good 7 months!!)
At that moment i forgot all the hell i had been through! She was immediatly taken away from me b/c she wasnt crying and they were scared her lungs were not developed.
I didnt get to see or hold my daughter until 5:30am the next morning when i demanded i see her. They wheeled me down there(b/c i was still on the magnesium and couldnt walk). I had to bottle feed her b/c she had blood sugar problems.
At about 8am thursday they took the IVs out and took me to post partum(sp?) room and kali didnt get to join me till that night. We stayed in the hospital until saturday. She is now a thriving 2 1/2 year old!
Needless to say i want to go a different route the next time we get preggo.

I loved the doctors and nurses but I was 5 cm dialated and then Haydens heart rate started to drop and I was having a hard time breathing. They ended up taking me in for an emergency c-section and putting me to sleep and my fiance wasn't even alowed in the room. When I finally woke up I found out that my inlaws saw MY son before me. Which realllly made me mad they still have no idea how upset it made me. And I didn't get to see my son for about 6 hours after he was born. It was horrible compared to my plans of having no one there but me and my fiance and just getting an epidural and giving birth. UUUGGGHHH!!!

I had c-sections with both of my children but 2 very different experiences.
My water brike with my daughter at 39 weeks exactly the day before my scheduled c
My water was brown so that was not good. My daughters embilical cord was wrapped around her neck and I was so drugged up I couldn't feel a thing.
With my son 2 1/2 years later my doctor pretty much refused to let me do a vbac which I will regret forever. My epideral was not stong enough I felt everythingn my son was stuck so they had to push on my belly and suction him out
UGH! |

I tried to do all natural childbirth, unfortunately she was late and they had to induce labor, which is starting off unnatural and when I was in labor over 24 hours with no progression they had to perform a C-section. This was my third child and the only girl so I was not going to let that spoil my birth experience, she is here healthy and all smiles 9 months later so it was all worth it!
